applemuncher - I would recommend the Canterbury base layers for cycling, they are very tight, but not compression top tight, they are very supportive so no bouncing anywhere, most importantly for all your cycling clothes they are breathable so the heat can escape. I also wear thermal running tights (hate the padding on cycling tights) with socks over the ankles as that bit gets freezing then over the top of the base layer a Shimano long sleeved, full zip thermal cycling top, I can unzip it to cool down if needed. Also think about your head, neck and chin in winter, they get really cold in the wind - I bought a Morf and it is fab.

We had a McMillan coffee morning at school yesterday so money was spent, also filled my car up with LPG from the new fuel budget. Did pay some debts yesterday but still need to get totals and do an update.

    Debt-free and Proud!
Sorting out clothes today for charity bags, and little mans clothes to pass on to relatives. Coathangers seem to be breeding though especially the horrible wire ones from the dry cleaners.

OH desperately needs a couple of new suits for work, but will he get any, nope, he will spend £80 on mountain biking shoes though, he might grow up one day, he is 46 next month.

  • Feeling simultaneously that I am doing a good job of getting out of debt :) and that I still have the splurge capacity that in part got me into it in the first time :(. Had a busy, busy week with people staying (so...lucrative) and literally tonights guest arrived about 30 minutes after I had put the last lot on the bus (so my sanctuary was not really mine for very long!). This is helping with the debt, but boy, is it a bit exausting. Anyway, the splurge bit is that I am off to a conference with a posh mess dinner on Tuesday (no travel, accommodation, or meal costs - just the bar). I do need to be smart and I have three outfit choices - two borrowed (I am not too proud to say - help, I haven't got anything to wear), one reinvented. So far, so good. But, you might remember I had my nails done before my big moment at the conference I organised early in the month...(gel stuff so it did stay nice for a few weeks) anyway it is now really scruffy! So I thought nothing of ringing beautician to ask to take them off, redo, and do my eyebrows at the same time. LUCKILY she didn't have time to re-do them, so it only cost £18.unplanned spend. I feel nicer though! I will be doing all other prepping / pampering myself, and will get DD to paint my nails on Monday night! Confession over, budge up on the naughty step apple!
  • I have cheered myself up by checking online - the guest payments have come through earlier than I thought, so I just transferred £150 to the loan! This leaves a little buffer for the next week or so (not a large one, but I am so determined not to dip into my OD at all this month...last month my interest was 14p after I ended up in it accidentally. So frustrating, but I can remember the pain of hefty charges when the situation was worse, so at least its not as bad a feeling as that - just annoyance at my poor planning!).
...Then I went back to update my signature and realised if I could squeeze an additional £13 onto the payback loan, it would be a much nicer number
....Then (all this has really happened since my last post!) my DM rang up to say they were able to deliver a gifted tumble dryer to me this afternoon. (I know, I know, but with the guests it will really help, as we approach the winter, and it has been about 6 years since I had one!). I am putting it in the shed so it will be a faff to use it - no slipping into energy sucking ways for me, fingers crossed!
So all in all, I'm much happier now!

Yay crazy lady for all your good news/debt paying off. I have gels on at the moment (done for free as I was a bridesmaid) but I need to figure out how to get them off in a week or so.

Applemuncher you are right about the tutoring money. Think I need to make a plan as I also need a wedding fund from January. Might use tutoring for additional payments to debt, payrise for wedding fund and then start emergency fund out of my unallocated money, then throw anything left at the debt too :)

Been to the gym and done the Aldee food shop, with vouchers, so definitely a spendy day.

Better get on with tidying and cleaning!

  • Hello! Hello! Hello!

Hope you are all enjoying your weekends! Sorry for not checking in for at least a couple of days. Still haven't mastered my work/ life balance just yet! I went to a zumba class Thursday (half price) after work, then yesterday I spent my evening studying and completed Week 3 of my Futurelearn course! :) How is everyone getting on with their 'learn something New' Mothernerd goal?

I've hit the 15 SFDs target- hooray! Also lost a SFD at a Macmillian morning which I helped to run at work, couldn't help but buy a cheeky cake and tea! :) *nom*

Off to friend's tonight for some classic movies and nom!

    Hugs to you all! xx
