Just a quick post as I am a look tired I'm going to have a nap.
Another sfd and in October I'm going to reduce my grocery spending some what, but I'll have to try and work out how low I can realistically go for.£1 a day 2025: £90.00/365 Xmas fund0 -
Awesome day - could not be happier
:):D:):D
Switched our mortgage, staying with same provider, saving £80 a month which we will overpay by standing order, but reduced the interest only part by £8000 which bins off the shortfall on the endowment.
The overpayment will save us nearly £800 in interest and the repayment part will be paid off 10 months early as well

Sorry, have read but lost post so have to start again and like everything but will need to do that after work.
I apologise for my lack of presence over the past few days but nightshifts mean I only really eat, sleep and work. Will be back on the go tomorrow afternoon/evening time.
Having a great time planning london. Got reward flights from the wee red people, staying with OH's sister so no accomodation costs (except maybe a meal out as a thank you).
Found a 2-4-1 site which will work for us as we are getting the train in and out of the city.
So... will put the details on my diary to save boring everyone but basically... not including food, our grand total is £200!!!!
But OH and I are splitting the cost so it means a weekend away is only costing me £100!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:j
We were planning on having an afternoon tea (which would cover both lunch and supper) but am struggling to find any non-fancy ones (I am a really fussy eater).
Any suggestions on places to eat would be gratefully received.
Was going to ask... I have had two spend-free days (due to work) but OH went out and bought milk and bread with the shopping budget. Does this mean I have only got one spend-free day?? Cause technically I didn't spend anything... but he did use our budget.
Hope everyone is doing well.

slinks off the naughty step to put the kettle on for MagicCat...then slinks back again
moohound - that is an awesome result! :j Well done!
To redeem myself a tad: I shall be returning an item to aldee tomorrow. However, I confess that it isn't a merino wool item. It is a 'compression top' that looked good for cycling. But when I tried it on it was so tight that it felt like a body sock that was 2 sizes too small!!! Anyhow, it will be returned and I shall get the money back.

Yo gang
MagicCat Hugs. Post when you can there is no pressure to post here amongst friends
Moohound What a fab result! :j Well done with the saving! :T
Apple muncher I spotted the cycling gear in aldee too! I talked myself out of a mega spend because as a fair weather cyclist, I tend to cycle less come the winter months.. If I did invest in merinos I would probably wear them as a base layer at work to keep the chill out
Today is PayDay! :j:j I am off work the next 4 days so will make a more detailed budget then.. A rough sketch of my finances show that once the £570 overdraft is cleared, Ill have less than £150 to last me the month which more or less guarantees I will be overdrawn next month tooIf I keep the overdraft sub £200 I will manage.. It just means that I will have to stick to the minimum credit card payment this month
and maybe a small tilly tidy
.
Quick cuppa tea and a doughnut then its sleep time..

Sorry I've not been around - had a really horrible week as my leaky bathroom turned into a full on replaster/ reseal/ install extractor fan jobby, so couldn't sleep at home for two nights in the middle of a truly ridiculous week at work. Not brilliant for my sanity, but thank goodness for brilliant landlords and grandmothers who will feed you and let you use their showers/ beds/ fridges as you choose. Hasn't been great for the diet, but I should be able to sleep at home tonight and have planned a big shop over the weekend to restock the freezer and a good clean to get rid of the dust.
Poor soa. I have a leak situation. Has been fine since mr builder fixed it two weeks ago (he had part fixed it before). He suggested I leave two weeks before re-painting the understairs toilet (the dpc never quite took, salts are still coming out of the wall as drip is on other side of the wall). On Wednesday DS1 said he had had to dodge the drip and now it is running, had to put the big bin back in place, bailed it out twice today and I really need to learn how to send a text message on the new phone as I can no longer walk to mr builders (wasn't going to be in most of today).
Luckystarr, Dolly 84 - October is going to be a tight one here as well. Determined to catch up with Gas/ Electric that way I will have reasonable payments for the rest of yr.
Today decided that I am, now back healthy, will try and lose weight up to xmas. Seeing I have lost 10lbs well 9lbs 1lb creeped back on, not in the obese chart now, moved to overweight in BMI tables. I need to lose 1st 8lbs to get to top of healthy weight. So aiming for 8lbs first. So no biccies/cakes for me next few weeks.
I will also be setting a restricted budget for October. Income from renting old house to DS2 continues to be uncertain (although he has gone very quiet again so possibly realised how tiny the possible house share was and how much space he has) and although only selling this house will resolve things, I need to do everything I can to improve the situation.
Congratulations on the weight loss plan, something else I need to give serious consideration. Should never have allowed chocolate back into my life. Think I may buy some blu* rib8nd bars (lots of wafer, thin coating of chocolate and ration myself, then try to cut it our altogether the following month.Awesome day - could not be happier:):D:):D

Awesome result indeed moohound, so pleased for you.
Hugs to MagicCat.
applemuncher glad the cycling gear crisis has been resolved - hope you find something better and cheaper.
(Sorry break in transmission - laptop still going off without warning and then I plug the charger in then twist it round to a point where it will charge).
Went to visit mum who is continuing to improve, we sat outside in a little courtyard garden. Going again on Monday as the Consultant wants to speak to us. Told mum to stay as long as they will let her, she is enjoying the novelty of someone feeding her. Also told her to ask to see someone about 'managing stress', easier to do while she is there rather than it being another appointment she has to be taken to.
Spent 2 hours + sorting tools, screws, drill bits etc - needed to be done.
Today I am grateful for the lovely day, that my fighting spirit is returning and for simple food.

Evening all
Hugs to all those with leaks!
Today was a spendy day as work had a Macmillan coffee morning so I donated some money (definitely worth the loss of a SFD). No other monies spent
I have sorted out all the monthly monies, and paid back all the money possible to the places I/OH/we borrowed it from - it is starting to get complicated and I really need to stop it and just stick to my budget. Wish I could cut up the ccards but I need them for emergency vet bills and I have no savings, so I guess all other emergencies too! Which reminds me, I must start an emergency fund.
Tomorrow will be spendy as I use an aldee voucher to stock up the cupboards and also get as much pet food in as we have room to store. I long for more storage in this house. In an ideal world we'd convert the 'shed' which occupies the under stairs space and is accessed from the driveway, and have it accessible from inside the lounge/kitchen instead but I guess that'd be a couple of thousand pounds so it's not even on my radar of possibilities at the moment.

Thank you for all the bathroom related wishes everyone
! (that sounds slightly dodgy, but you know what I mean!) Bathroom is now done, I've moved back in and my landlord has put in an extractor fan to help stop it happening again, so hopefully leak-gate 2014 is now over. Have chilli and casserole making plans for today, and want to have a really good clean, so hopefully a SFD!

Fmess - previously, I think you have used all your tutoring money to reduce the debt. Could you use that money to start some savings/ emergency fund? You may still need to use the cc if it's a biggie, but at least you would have some money towards it.
soa -phew to the bathroom! Hope it stays leak-free!
PhoeniX - I hope to cycle through the winter despite having been a fair-weather cyclist all my life thus far. Hence my purchase. Ifbuying them means you keep snug, then the aldee ones are the cheapest around. But if another normal layer would also work, then they'd be a waste of money.
mothernerd - glad your mum and you had a good chat. And eye-rolls to ds2 re moving out/ not moving out!
4 days left - we shall make you proud mothernerd!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0
