Oh no! That is bad news! Sorry I don't have any constructive suggestions, but I'm sending you postive vibes and hugs and snickers.

Thanks PBS, positive vibes/hugs/snickers gratefully received:)

Have decided it was meant to be because......

At the beginning of the year before I wrote to creditors I cashed in a whole load of points on NW card and got some vouchers for Curr*ys. Still had £490 left. Had checked back of vouchers and no date was printed. Looked at them about 3 weeks ago and in very small very faint print it said "use within 6 months of issue" _ I was so upset with myself that I had lost nearly £500 because I hadn't read them carefully enough. Anyway last week DH said that sometimes it was difficult finding clients addresses (we do not have much data included in package on phone) and that we ought to get a satnav. He took the vouchers with him anyway and presented them at till and they went through! So dishwasher is 15 odd years old and falling to pieces so we went yesterday to spend remaining vouchers - and they all went through:j so dishwasher and TOM TOM only cost me £100. Saving £450 with vouchers which 3 weeks ago I thought had "expired" within 6 months of issue.

Car service/MOT was £400 extra expense not accounted for, so all in all I guess am not a whole lot worse off. Although it means DH can't get his tv with them now:o

  • Wow!!! That is excellent stuff. I always try my luck with vouchers. I have found that supermarkets will accept out of date brand matching vouchers if you ask the person at the checkout to put it through.

I think that a lot of companies stack the vouchers up before they send them off to the manufacturer so dates are not as important!

What a coup for you though. Especially after thinking it was all lost! :)

Wow to vouchers. I'm so glad you didn't lose that £500! Xmas without the dishwasher would not have been good I agree. Which job did your OH go for?

Thank You Verbatim! :xmassmile Think a trip up into the loft is needed some time soonish but am a bit loathe to do so until DS has had his birthday sleepover (they all crash out in lounge so that they can play games /watch movies all night) and that might not be till weekend of 12/13/14, which might be a bit late? Hmmm.
May I be the first to say to you "and a Happy New Year" !:D

OH went for the one nearest (~ 30miles 35min journey) which is OK, and also happens to be the better package once all the details came through. :) 3K extra on salary, but with company car and fuel card including for private use, then private health for whole family after 6 months. The new toy (car) will make him very happy methinks, doesn't make sense not to take it with the fuel card, especially as both our cars are costing too much to keep on the road, but aren't worth anything due to high mileage so can't sell and replace as could not get finance due to defaults. So it is all very timely. If he stays as amenable as he has been the last few days, we may be able to cover the extra tax costs if he can do the evening school run on way home (which will save me £90-100 per month), and job is in right direction for him to do that at least some days of the week if not all. :) So in the short term we won't have any more cash but at the moment I don't think we will be any worse off....higher tax and loss of CB for DS balances reduced private
car costs for him + slightly higher salary.

That will just leave my car - which is also in need of some attention at intermittent problem with gear changes (its an automatic) - not looking forward to taking it in for checks :(

He will find out today if he has to work his 3 months notice or if he can start at new job sooner. End of Year would be perfect - New Year New start:)

The job he had verbally accepted he has had to turn down today. They were disappointed but understanding and said that if things did not work out for whatever reason, to give them a call:T so nice to have a fallback I think!

I was only meant to be on here a couple of hours!!! Need to drag myself away and WORK.

Have been distracted as called home (as in parents) and they are feeling quite lonely. Dad hardly ever leaves the house. Always feel so guilty - I want them to move but mum very reluctant as we are so rural and she does not drive. In their
ideal world we would move closer to them, whereas for us it's easier if they moved in with us. :( Blood sugar settled back down after a few days of hypos overnight. Thankful for that.

    Morning all.
:(Grey and miserable, persistent drizzle and chilled to the bone today. Roll on Spring.
Opened two letters from last week and 2 creditors have sold on debt to Arr*w and Mo*rcroft. One has new account details so need to transfer the SO, the other asking to call in :( Hate those calls. Not sure if they are easier to deal with or not.

Still struggling with own bank HS*BC - they have been slapping on charges onto our business accounts £ 70 odd quid so far - called twice and said was told interest and charges would be frozen, both times was told someone would call back and they didn't. Need to call them again. Why have they frozen everything on personal but not on business debts - business debts are personal anyway as we are not limited company.

Also just paid out 365 (+100 deposit 2weeks ago) for a school trip for DS. He has not been on anyof the optional ones last two years as did not have any money to spare. We hadn't requested this one either but his subject teacher approached him specifically when someone pulled out as DS excels outstandingly at this. It was just as the work was coming in so I agreed, balance was due yesterday. Wish he could join in with more of them but most are over 1K. Also haven't joined in with any of the language exchanges as feel we couldn't afford to host at our end. Maybe next year.

Am having my Christmas hair cut today - not sure what difference it will make - bags under eyes stick out like....was going to say sore thumb but it isn't thumbs,is it?:p

Hope it is less grey where you are.

Morning my lovely. Happy new hair cut day.

Put some slices of cucumber on those eyes and relax for 10 minutes. It does wonders.

Why not write to H5BC and any other predators instead of ringing. Tell them all correspondence must be in writing from now on. That way you have a paper trail of everything that was agreed. I never spoke to mine, only ever wrote, so when they broke an agreement I sent them a copy of their letter and asked them why. It seemed to work.

Don't feel guilty about DS and trips, when they grow up they remember what they did not what they didn't x

I have both of those in my portfolio NOA :(

They are absolutely no trouble at all and much less awkward than banks :)

I'm not going to suggest you'll love them but say 'sit' and they sit. (woof woof :)!)

Hi NOA, don't forget about selling vouchers on eBob if you don't need them. They sell quite well. Ss
