Thank you everyone, for all your kind words, I really appreciate it. It has been a horrible week, doom and gloom all around. Lots of tears, DD and DS struggling to come to terms with it too, as they have known the family all their lives. DS gives me numerous hugs and sometimes it annoys me but I have told him now never to stop. DD very upset and hard as she's not close by so have been skyping every day. DH has been very supportive too. And it was my birthday the day after we found out about my friend- did not feel like celebrating but DS very sweet and bought a little Victoria sponge and stuck a candle in for me.
This week brought home to me the message, as some of you have said, to make every moment count and stop sweating the small stuff.
    Quoting James Dean -
"Dream as if you'll live forever.
Live as if you'll die tomorrow."

I will get round to replying to posts individually over the next week or two, and catching up with all that has been going on. Hope all is well with all of you.
Thank you new followers too, and welcome.... sorry you have caught me at a bad time, look forward to meeting you properly.....
But at the moment do have to sweat the small stuff and get my VAT return done due tomorrow. Have not been able to focus on anything this week.

    Financial update
VAT return done- VAT man paid:dance:

Bank account empty:( its going to be a very very tight two weeks as have to keep what's left for diesel to get to work/school runs.
Got paid £132 for marking 2 days last week, similar amount to come next week. £192 to come for fun part time job for October (paid next Tuesday) - this will cover Direct debits and next weeks food.
Work in progress and confirmed £4000 + 1000 early next year. Absolutely have to get £1000 min invoiced and paid by client before end of month otherwise we are in ShiP street on 1st Dec when DDs all go out. Hopefully another £2K before Christmas but trouble is clients are hard to pin down latter half of December.

DD still not sorted for a job at uni so her bank account very low and will be in OD in three weeks time when 2nd rent payment goes out. She is spending £44 a week - food/contacts/ent/travel) - I'm still paying her phone.

Also got flowers/donation to sort out for funeral plus another funeral to go to 120 miles away (second cousin a few years older than me, massive heart attack in car, was not discovered and has been in a coma for a month, died same day as my friend). DD will have extra travel costs for this too. :(
Hasten to add, its of no consequence compared to a life.

I wish money grew on deciduous trees, then I could just go out into the garden and rake it all in every autumn.

    Hello PP,
You're very welcome - thank you for your kind words. I love penguins - remember going to see The Last March (I think that was what it was called? about emperor penguins and their struggle to survive?) loved it. And the John Lew*s Christmas advert - have you seen it (it made me cry:p)?

Love saag paneer :)(with spinach I take it?)
Will find you but it may take a while so please feel free to post a link to your thread here (to make it easier for me;)) and I will pop by your page!

Thank you so much PennySaving, much appreciated. DS has been a little star (well he is quite big actually!) this week. He never knows what to say but does the sweetest things.

    Hi Noah..

Hope you got some sleep last night. I can empathise as I lost one of my friends to the big C earlier this year leaving small children.

Keep hugging those babies as SS says.

    Puzz. x
Thank You Puzz - its so hard isn't it, sorry to hear you have lost someone close to C too. Sleep elusive but hugging aplenty.

    Hi NOA,

So sorry for your bad news. It frightens me when I read people leaving young children behind. So traumatic for them all.

Hope you managed to get a decent nights sleep.

Makes us all realise how we need to make the most of every day, stop stressing the small stuff and hug our kids :)

Thank You SS. It is really frightening and much as you try not to think about it - it takes time to get over the shock. She had BC 9 years ago, aggressive and not caught early - her children were only 3 and 5 then, and the prognosis was 3years max. However a miracle happened and she responded to a then new drug, so she was lucky in that sense, and had a few more good years with the children. Count every blessing.

    Oh NOA :(

I am so sorry for your loss hun. It doesn't matter who it is, it really hits hard especially when there are children involved.

I sincerely hope you get a decent, even medicated, nights sleep. Be gentle with yourself. x
