Morning All. Sun has finally come out after two days of grey cold wet wintry days:)
Thanks Bob, Chev and Brizzle
Sorry your having to deal with parent health issues too Chev, so much harder from the other side of the world. At least I can just get in the car and just go in emergencies. My dad had severe neck pain too in Jan, and they still haven't referred him to physio, they have given up on him pretty much. He can't get to the Gp's and they won't do home visits, so they just prescribe painkillers for everything. He's pretty much gven up too, it seems, spends all his days in bed, just getting up to eat and use the bathroom.
No further on garden this week, yesterday was a write off due to weather:(. Might get an hour of two today. But he has hoovered and helped with my voluntary work yesterday morning
Hope you got the veg planted up Brizzle.
Bob, my parents drive me mad because they will never ever spend anything on themselves to make there own lives easier, but are really generous with giving it away. They are so frugal in their own living, habit, from working hard all their lives and bringing up a large family on very little, scrimping and saving every penny, working every hour of the day. Oh my, could they give some advice on this forum.....Feb2014 Total unsecured debt £72,520>>01/06/16 £68166>01/02/17 £66,600=8.18%PAID

NOA I bet they could. And you have obviously inherited a lot of their skills yourself to manage as well as you are doing." Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

That's so sweet of you BoB, thanks:o however my dad would never in a million years have got himself into the pickle we have managed to get into!! He has never had a loan in his life, apart from a small mortgage in later years which he soon paid off, Always used cash, and if he didn't have the money he didn't buy it. He did that long before our mate Martin told us that's what we should be doing
:money: I'm sure many others of his generation are like that. The generation that didn't need a purse /wallet with 50 slots for credit/debit/store/loyalty cards - just a pocket for change and a slot for notes and green shield stamps....

Green shield stamps..now that takes me back
I love the Co-op divi...partly for similar nostalgic reasons!
Sorry re your parents..any chance your dad is a bit depressed? Would a course of meds help? Not doing home visits seems odd...surely the local GPs have to offer that?MFiT-T4 Member No. 96 - 2022 is my MF goal

He sounds a wonderful man. I'm sure you've always done your best though, life isn't always easy is it and we don't always get the results we deserve for our hard efforts." Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

He is Bob, and mum too, both very different, both can be infuriating at times (as all parents are;)) and as they got older they don't know best anymore, but you still have to respect their views and bite your tongue and let it wash over you. It 's not easy for them when roles reverse and dependencies change. .............what goes round comes round is the saying..................Maybe if I get enough brownie points with my parents my kids will afford me the same luxuries:rotfl:;)
But it also says on TCB............. don't bank on it:eek::rotfl:
which leads to my bonus £10 TCB for a £10 spend on fuel at the weekend - an offer to newbies -- though still waiting for it to be confirmed.

I can't remember what you got for them though? I just remember loving sticking them in the little books:) Oh and PG tips collection cards?:) at least I think it was tea - maybe it wasn't....my memory fails me.
Yes, Dad is definitely depressed. Not sure that more meds would do him any good, he's on such a toxic cocktail at the moment for everything else I despair. And no they (GPs) don't do home visits, though a nurse does come to get blood samples prior to consultant appts. Twice there have been in my opinion , serious failures in service because they refused to come out, but Dad did not want me to put in a complaint. Once he ended unconscious in the middle of the night and mum had to call an ambulance out - he was hospitalised for a week, all because a dr wouldn't come to see him, second time he overdosed on painkillers because that's what the DR prescribed over the phone and I had to call NHS direct (not called that now) and they sent paramedics out. Part of it is my parents fault too, they are too passive (old and scared).
ANy way - this was just meant to be a quick postbut the above all makes me :mad::mad::mad:
Have been working at school this week, in again tomorrow and Friday, but at home Thursday with New Hair Day apt booked. Off to have a long soak. Have been very decadent and been having baths ( we have a big one) much more frequently rather than green showers.
Will have a proper catch up on everyone's diaries at weekend

Not sure what to say about the GP not visiting. I really thought like others, that they had to come out if the person isn't capable of coming to them...But maybe that standard had gone whilst I have been away
chevI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

Hi Chev,
It varies enormously....my surgery (different county) is absolutely brilliant, but theirs has gone downhill in the last few years. Apparently no house calls, they are just told to turn up at A&E if that concerned:eek: Elderley patients don't want the hassle of that - as you have no idea how long anything will take. Without getting into politics, there has been a huge increase in the population in that area, impacting on all services.
