Many don't see the problems, nor do they care. They're jealous because you supposedly have a free car. You have something they can't have themselves.

dont let some people on here see that you have days out and a trip to disneyland planned!
they will be incandescent with rage ;)
after all, you should spend every single penny on your boy's disability needs...

they dont seem to realise that everything is a disability need with a disabled child (thats iif they are to be allowed any quality of life)

On the flip side, I've had people treat me as a complete invalid. Heck, I even had someone talk very slowly to me because I told her I'm partially sighted!

I know the feeling. I have the same problem in my local Sainsburys.
If I decide to use the self service tills some well meaning member of staff has to come and interfere and check I am all right and even offers to do it for me.
  • I receive HRM and can walk with a crutch, stick or rollator, or occasionally-for a very shirt walk - with none so on the back of my mobility car is a disabled sticker saying 'not all disabilities are visible ' which, if it doesn't work, at least makes me feel better lol. I also have a disabled child sticker on as all 3 of my kids are on asd plus one has had a double amputation of feet.
And yet....still get told we are 'lucky' to have car!!

When we got our first motability car the salesman said 'yes it's lovely for you to have a new car, and it will help, but honestly I'm sure you'd aggree that you'd prefer not to actually NEED to have it, and be without your disabilities. Yes I would!
We have had to justify our disabilities to DLA we shouldn't have to do it to our 'friends' too!!

I would give all the money back in a heartbeat if I could watch my son run around tomorrow but right now it allows us to do things we wouldn't be able to do without it ie the days out we do, the big surprise trip in Disneyland that we have coming up, the numerous amounts of lego sets we buy our son,

:rotfl: We're taking our son to Alton Towers next week :rotfl:

Welcome to the forum, MrsH20 :) As you say, we'd give up the income and the car in a heartbeat if it would give our children a 'normal' life :A

Thats probably them just being helpful though.

People used to offer to lift things from high shelves when I would go round on my scooter - I can get off it but I think we ought to accept these offers graciously otherwise people will be scared off from ever offering - which would be sad.
