I am such an idiot! When will I learn?

  • Dont beat yourself up. I talk to my DH about finances and he always gets to a beat up/ pity party about all the things we have done. My thought is sure, learn from your mistakes, but you cant change the past, only the future.

Even if you have been on the forum for 8 years, thats ok. This might be the time youll get it right. Going it alone might help you stay more focused this time!

    Good luck!

Thanks drchimrichalds I agree no point with regrets I just need to learn from my mistakes and move forward!

Well last night I ended up going for a curry with some friends - but it was a cheap night as it was place where you tale your own wine - I still wasn't felling 100% so came straight home rather than going to the pub with the other afterwards! so £15 spend for a lovely night with friends is not too bad!

Still full of cold and DD3 is now complaining of a sore throat so having a quiet weekend - needed to go and pick up the turkey and last fresh bits so that's all done - I need nothing else at all now!

Bottled the blackberry brandy today its lovely! but the elder berry vodka tastes like cough mix - but I hadn't put the sugar in! so sugar in and it needs a few days to dissolve before I bottle it! Its a fab colour though!

DD3 and I also made a lovely chocolate cake for no apparent reason than she wanted to bake - It looks lovely! Will have a bit after dinner it is Christmas after all!)

Still not sorted my bank accounts and planned my CC payments! Might do that tonight!
  • Hi Judi

Not sure if you have sorted the gift thing for work, but had to pop on to tell you this, a lady at work brought in some homemade biscuits for us, they were delicious and shaped as Christmas trees, very well received by all. I thought of you while munching mine with a cuppa :)

judi - re: 'elder berry vodka tastes like cough mix ', it was prescribed for exactly this purpose when I first made it maybe 10 yrs ago.

Yes, the colour is stunningly beautiful. Sounds as if you've a jewel vintage there.

-and kdas, completed the writing-icing of names, initials on all the gingerbread christmas trees when I came in tonight. Waitrose gingerbread crimbo recipe card - excellent forgiving dough AND quick AND easy.

judi - test-drive some of that 'cough syrup': it WILL do the trick. I have access to loads of cheap honey, so would add that. Would that I could magic wand some to you:-)

You are doing well, all in all. so just enjoy some quiet time with dd3 and recover together. Make sure that judi's/Mum's Quiet Time is taken every day. If you invite dd3 to share it with you, given shared snuffles/throats, snuggled together on bed, each with a sense of 'special'....well, actually, I wouldn't mind popping in for a piece of cake, if there's any left.

    Sweet dreams and pink ice-creams.............

DD3 and I made Christmas biscuits for her teachers - I will make some shortbread and tablet to take into work I think for Christmas day - but by the sounds of it food is in plentiful supply for staff on Christmas day already!

Ampersand your gingerbread sounds great! Would love some of your honey to sweeten the vodka - hoping the sugar I put in helps make it more palatable - the blackberry brandy is certainly very drinkable - had to do a quality control test with a little tot in some hot blackcurrant! purely for medicinal purposes of course!

We chilled with a girly film tonight and not planning on doing much tomorrow either except mountains of washing!!! We haven't even touched the cake - its a bad state of affairs when you are too sick to eat cake!!! Hopefully tomorrow will be different!

Thanks Ampersand - unfortunately DD2 is in work all day so washing mountain is my domain today! - but not doing much else - took DS to a party but that's it!

Might start on the shortbread baking later if I feel up to it! and do need to think about present wrapping!

Hope you are having a relaxed run to Christmas my friend?

Virtual blackberry brandy and a slice of chocolate cake on its way to you!:xmassign:

judi - just thinking of you all and wishing you enduring happiness, as I did yesterday in our branch of your maman's coalface.

Blessings, strength, resolution and STRONG Mumminess, where dd2 is concerned.

Don't lose your way judi - even if 2015 doesn't quite see you all the debt-free way there, we'll be here and helping you over the line, then staying there, like beanie-lou.

When you have a bit of calm+you time, tell us how those lovely liqueurs and h-m gifts went down. A highlight of recipients' crimbo, I have not the slightest doubt.

Your new work-place will always be a corrective when the family dynamic is in collision mode...something dd2 could see for herself.
