Judi24, please do something about this...it is seriously taking the p***. and if she wants to live in a hotel with room service, the she can pay hotel with room service rates!!!!!! or go and live in a hotel. and at her age, im afraid that she knows exactly what she is doing. its all very well being a 'soft' mum, but this is taking it to a whole new level.xx0

Sometimes you've just gotta be stubborn to get somewhere.
I was getting sick of doing all my partner's washing because he never did any (his OR mine). So I just stopped doing his. And then he ran out of clothes and had to deal with it.
If she leaves clothes in the washing machine, take them out and put them in a basket in front of her door, wet. Let her sort them out. If they go mouldy and she loses her favourite dress, tough !!!!!0 -
Hi..sounds like the situation with your daughter is frustrating you. She is an adult and it is quite right that you expect her to behave like one and respectfully help in the house etc..
However I just wondered from your posts how old are the younger two? I find its common when there is a big age gap between children ie some being adult some still being dependent that the 'adult' children feel its unfair that you treat the littlies different? Almost like well you do stuff for them but not me...I agree in theory this is wrong of the adult children to feel like this but in practice it can happen for them subconsciously...
Just a thought but sometimes it helps to go back to basics..Spend some quality one on one time with the 'adult' child and kill them with kindness and ask them if/what they are finding difficult and then tell them what you are finding difficult...sometimes its good to reevaluate as they still want to be your child and act like one but then also want to be treated like an adult when it suits...confusing eh..bit like the book 'Get out of my life but give me a lift to town first'......
Just a thought...0 -
KM - you are right here::-))))))))
''Get out of my life but give me a lift to town first'......'
-but please read through from the start to see, in your words, that judi has done a lot of this, as her norm: 'Spend some quality one on one time with the 'adult' child and kill them with kindness and ask them if/what they are finding difficult and then tell them what you are finding difficult'.

Thanks everyone - I agree I do need to sort this out as I am getting increasingly frustrated with it - Keeping motivated you may have a point as she always makes out she had it harder as a kid than my younger 2 do and I guess there might be a little jealousy there. To be honest I probably don't spend much time with her on my own so maybe I will try that approach and then explaining why I get so frustrated with her. I did dump wet washing on the floor which is now on the floor in her room!
Oh and managed to get spell checker to work!!! so the quality of my spelling will hopefully improve!!!!0 -
Nice to see you Ampersand - hope you are faring well in all this pre Christmas madness!! Still not managed to get liqueurs strained and bottled!!! A job for later this week I think! will definitely be raising a glass to you then!0

Well I have decided I need to find a new approach to 'reigning it in' at Christmas! Off work today so decided to co to Li*l as it is a bit out of the way for me - spend £38 on not very much! Then went to As*d as there were a few things I needed to get that couldn't get elsewhere and spend £200!!!!!:eek::eek:
I did get underwear and socks for all the kids for their Christmas stockings which came to around £50 - so £150 on food and drink and not a turkey in sight!!!
I have now banned myself from going to shops! I will send my mum to get pick up the turkey (to be paid for with Nectre points) and the veg (which she said she would pay for as her contribution) But still - its and expensive time of year!
I now need to start wrapping and writing cards and bottling liqueurs and baking shortbread and making tablet ....... and going to work!!!!0 -
