How long ago did we meet?

judi, you badly need a STOP, e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g. Don't let this big crash spend, with To Do List still far from empty, drag you down into a so-what £££££££spiral .
This is not the path to re-visit. OK? Promise?
Just do wrapping and bottling, with radio/sound accompaniment only, until the weekend. Let the 2-day MAD recede into history.

Funnily enough I was just thinking of you the other day.

Yes Beanilou - eekk was my sentiment at the checkout! Its the and evil place and I have said many times before I just should not enter the place!!! I did get new cutlery, too much wine and new glasses to put it in! (£3 for 6 so not so extravagant)
I do not need to get anything else - except turkey and veg which will not cost me anything!
Anyway - spending all done - no more - I promise!!!
DD2 and I have really fallen out! I tried to spend some 1 to 1 time today and took her for a cheap pub lunch (her mate works there so got discount too!) but then came home and things went down hill when she gave me a mouth full about her having to do more in the house than the younger 2! I lost my rag and shouted at her telling her if she didn't like it then she knew where the door was!!! She just laughed!!! which made me so much more angry!!
On a plus side tonight I have cleaned spare room for DD1 when she comes home next week, helped DS with his room and put oven cleaner in ovens ready to wash off tomorrow! Still not written a card or wrapped a present though!!!0 -
Well payday has been and gone!!! my pay flew through my account faster than the speed of light yesterday morning!! I paid:
Nationwide OD £158 - balance now 0!
Nationwide CC £150 - balance now 0!
First Direct OD £414 - balance now 0!
Barcalycard £128 - balance £6613
Tesco £97 - balance £4792
Got £600 for the month - but I need to pay parking ticket which is £82!!!!
Went to Al*i - today - sepnt £112 - but got lots of big items that will do the month like dog food, cat food, washing powder etc should last 2 weeks now withough buying anything (except maybe milk and bread!) and very very proud of myself not caving in to kids wanting to go out or having takeaway!! DD3 wanted to go out and DD1 wanted takeaway cos she has a hangover (so do I!) after my works leaving do! Made chicken curry instead which went down fine!!! and got some left to go in the freezer.
Have given DD2 a choice about next weeks birthday party - she had also wanted to us to go and see her sister the weekend after - I have siad I cannot afford to do both and she could choose - I think she is veering towards going to see her sister - which would suit me better and it would be cheaper - would only have to pay for fuel and a few drinks - my dad would end up taking us out for dinner!
Going to go and try to find some blackberrys tomorrow - loving the idea of blackberry brandy!!!
would it be cheaper to by a bag of bread mix? also maybe go get the milk in the evening/sunday etc when its reduced when i work away if there is any pints of reduced milk i stock up and freeze it. could help.0 -
Hi Judi, I have no words of wisdom when it comes to children, I only have DS who is 16 and is driving me nuts and he's gone to live with my mum, I think because he finds me and OH too strict
I am quite sad that he's gone to mum's but also frustrated with both of them as he seems to come and go as he pleases and dropped out of college after only a few weeks currently he hadn't been able to get a job, he did very badly with his GCSEs and doesn't seem overly bothered. He's got a 2nd interview with the Army this week but hasn't done much prep for it so I'm at a loss with it, he was very rude to me on the phone yesterday and hung up on me
Sorry, rambling, don't even know where I was headed with this!

Thanks dory - since that post what I do now is keep bread in the freezer as we don't generally use a lot of bread so it tends to go mouldy. I do have the ingredients in to make bread if I had too I guess! I have also started having some milk in the freezer (didn't know you could freeze milk!) however DS has ADHD and some other issues and is likely to be on the autistic spectrum - he will not touch food that might be past his sell by date - so having defrosted milk can lead to problems as it looks out of date - then he wont touch it! I have to try to keep him away from the bottle and pour it for him so he doesn't see the bottle!0

kdalwaysskint - I really feel for you - its so hard! I have had challenges with DD2 since she was about 15 - but I guess I just wanted to put up with it so she would get through school and get decent exam results - she did ok and went to uni for a year (it was great - and I feel guilty saying that!) but she got herself in a mess, didn't like the course and had a dodgy boyfriend who didn't help! She came home with a few payday loans and started working full time and has sorted herself out a bit - but I know she blames me for her not having this idyllic childhood she wanted (life is tough and I have to work hard to get by and have not always made the best decisions in my love life!!!) but I really don't know what to do anymore - she really drags me down! I don't expect her to be a slave but surely as another adult she must see that she should be helping in the house a bit?
Sorry rambling now!! You son sound like he is certainly causing you some challenges too! My friends eldest joined the army at 17 and is doing really well now - he hasn't looked back! but her DS2 has dropped out of college and is doing nothing but stealing and lying!!! Its all such hard work sometimes!0 -
Thanks Judi, we sound very similar, I too made some bad relationship choices in the past. Also my son started going down hill about a year ago when he started seeing a girl who wasn't good for him
if nothing else we'll get out crappy debts sorted out

Yes at least we will be debt free even if we are demented by our kids! I love them all to bits - they are my world but some days it just seems like such an uphill struggle!!! I have just about got my DS more settled in school and doing a bit better with his behaviour and now DD2 starts!!! I am sure they have a timetable so they each take it in turns to keep me on my toes!!!!0

I guess my decision has to be am I willing to pay out large sums if the old girl gets seriously sick while i was building up a pot for vet bills. My insurance has gone up to £25 a month so If i put that away I would have £400 in the year - I have spend about £40 on vet bills in the last year and din't claim cos my excess is £100 and the problem cleared up - she is not likely to cause damage or injury so don't feel I need that part of the insurance. The issue for me is can I be strict with the savings - now that is a much bigger issue!!!0
