Sky Sports 5

Updating my earlier post that I believed that the offer in question- "2 years' free broadband for Sky Sports customers"- was no longer available, it appears that Sky are persisting with this offer in some respect, albeit that it's no longer generally available/advertised.
I say this because I received a mailshot yesterday, seeking to persuade me to switch to Sky Broadband on a 12 month contract with the offer of 2 years free broadband, on condition that I activate Sky Sports 5 and retain Sky Sports for the 2 year period.
The mailshot added that the offer was "only available to the recipient" of the mailer and was "not available to existing Sky Broadband customers".
So, the "activate Sky Sports 5" process is apparently still being used at least to market "free broadband" to Sky Sports customers who don't presently subscribe to Sky Broadband.0 -

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Really? They're worried!0 -

Nevertheless, I've no doubt that the aim of the "activate Sky Sports 5" process remains to contract customers to Sky Broadband beyond the 2015/16 Champions League start.
I shan't be going back to ADSL (2Mbps in my street!) or Sky Broadband/Fibre, however. Allowing Sky control over the telephone line effectively removes the tv competitors (Talk Talk & BT) from the equation in my area.0 -

Its headline message is "Don't miss out- Activate Sky Sports 5 today and get 2 years free Broadband Unlimited". However, the website link given to activate Sky Sports 5 doesn't lead to the broadband offer and the mailshot gives a telephone number for the recipient to claim the apparently "account specific" broadband offer.0 -
I'm currently in the midsts of my annual Sky TV chicken, where I cancel it until they give it me back at substantial discount. However I am erring on the side of just letting it go now.
I'm tempted by the current BT TV offer. I've got Plusnet fibre as it is, and the Infinity 2 deal with BT TV is £25 a month for 6 months and then 33.45 after that (+£3 for HD). I'm paying £19.99 for my plusnet unlimited fibre as it is.
You get BT Sports, ESPN & Eurosport in that, plus 12 additional Channels (watch, syfy, comedy central, discovery, MTV etc) I know they aren't Sky1 or Atlantic but those shows are available by other means :lipsrseal.
Plus will all be good to go for Champions League in 2015.
Looking at what we actually watch on Sky, it more for the kids multiroom and I use the word kids loosely as they are working adultsSo if they want sky they can pay for it
Anyway will got back to freesat for a while as the chicken game starts and have a think about what I will do.0 -

Ouch, I was tempted until I was reading my plusnet smallprint, although out of contract this month on the fibre I renewed my 12-month Saver Line Rental in August to save a few pennies and you don't get a refund on these.
So looks like I'm Freesat only till next August, lets hope the BT TV deals are still as good. Can't afford to simply chuck £100 of line rental away0 -

...talking to my S-I-L last night, he actually took advantage of the 2 year bband deal via SS5 "activation" - but he still has that b*******ing annoying activate button!:mad:0 -
