I said you can get a burger for the price of a mac d's meal.
If you think £5 is over priced for a burger well no wonder why the big M are so popular. (Remember, I DO eat and like Mac d's)

Maybe it's where you are? I am in London and myself and partner got Two burgers, chips to share and a milshake for £20.
So not sure why yours came to that much?

I'd rather pay for a decent bit of meat than something that's plastic. However, for cheap fast food or for the times I crave plastic, I eat at Macdonald's.
But given the choice I know what I'd rather go for any day.

I don't usually eat burgers- me and mate only go to GBK for the Steinlager!
This was in Nottingham. Between us me and mate spent about fifty quid  i had their special curried lamb burger thing with fries and a shake- I'm guessing you either had the plain burger or the cheeseburger?

Do you really seriously think you know better than they do?

    ....

According to GBK's online menu, their cheapest burger is £6.75, a milkshake is £4.05, Skinny fries (regular) £2.95. So £24.55 in total by my calculations, if you were sharing your chips.

Anyway, the cheapest burger, fries and milkshake would be £13.75 per person. A slice of cheese appears to be another £1.20; fancier burgers are an extra £2 or £3. Then there's the tip. I can see how you could get to £20.

On the other hand, I expect that someone has rounded up a £15 bill to £20 for dramatic effect, in the same way as someone else has rounded down a bill of £25 to £20 for dramatic effect.

I'm not a great fan of McDs, particular the de-skilling they've introduced which has been replicated in so many other places, but you have to recognise, they know their markets pretty well and have always adapted to survive and thrive.

Hate McDs over here, loved it in Japan. Qoo white grape drink with a teriyaki burger, nom nom!

Meanwhile, I had a KFC in Beijing and it was absolutely vile. Tasted all kinds of 'wrong.' Then again, it might've been kentucky fried cat ;)
  • Not been in a McDs in years - I far prefer to spend a bit more and go to Byrons or GBK. GBK always have offers on so it's only £25 if you're buying without their frequent deals. Byrons has an amazing Oreo milkshake.

Personally I don't eat in McDs for two reasons - the food is (was) generally pap and the scum that hang around outside the door and inside it in our town - it's been this way for about 20 years in my city and I'd rather eat in a place that doesn't have a gang of yooves that cannot count the fingers on their own hands sitting in the doorway.
    Thinking critically since 1996....

Byrons is very average, I fancy having a five guys or Shake shack (only one in UK) as I've heard good things about them.

However last week Almost Famous opened in Leeds, which do the greatest burgers ever and I'm glad I don't have to travel to Manchester to have one.

    McDonalds should redo the McRib.

Why are Mcdonalds so boring in this country? There is no originality or exciting burgers and menu items like you see in other countries. Dont they realise that more people would come to eat there if they had promotions that were exciting, rather than just another burger in a different bun or with bacon on!

Whats wrong with MaccyD's? You know you're getting a salt enfused burnt roll, with processed "cheese" square thats more like 3 day old chewing gum found under the desks at a school, some kind of roadkill meat patty scraped from the local backroads, and sometimes a few extras like soggy weeds described at lettuce, bit of slug slime/student snot they call dressing and a picked-scab described as bacon.

Yum! I Fancy one now lol
