Now it has changed to standing outside our house and shouting Beep Beep at 10pm.

Honestly don't understand how someone can be like this

I aven't read anybody defending this behaviour, perhas you might like to quote where anybody's done that?

Have you actually read every post? If so then I think you will find comments that one honk of a car horn is not a problem, should not wake anyone, if it does wake someone they should be able to go back to sleep straight away. There is a comment saying 6.30am is not that early!!! Also that most people are up at that time. Strange then that I only know maybe 3 people that are up that early - even friends/neighbours that work don't get up before about 7.30. There is a comment saying that it's like people moving to a rural area and complaining about cocks crowing and church bells ringing (ridiculous comment).

There are also quite a lot of comments about when the baby is born they are likely to have sleepless nights anyway. I think a baby crying is totally different to a full grown idiot knowingly making an unnecessary noise early morning

It doesn't matter if the OP's wife is pregnant, or not. Beeping a horn to "say goodbye" at 6am is unacceptable, and possibly illegal.

If the OP has had a quiet word with his neighbour and asked him to refrain, as it wakes them up, and he has refused, he is an @r$e, and the OP should have no hesitation in informing his community policing team. I know I wouldn't.
  • Whilst I agree that your neighbour is acting like an arrogant lout, I think you are making a fuss unnecessarily. 6.30 is not early. You'll be woken up a whole site earlier than that when you have the baby.

You've asked him to stop, he hasn't, you'll be moving in five months, just ignore it and move on.

Andrew - please get in touch with the PCOS or whoever and let them deal with this. This person sounds like a right di*khead who seems to have it in for you now. Don't retaliate in any way as that would only escalate the situation and take you down to his level.

My sister was actually stabbed to death by her neighbour over this very same issue a few years ago. I'm not saying this would happen to you - but it just shows how things can get out of hand.

That's a matter of opinion. I think it's early and unacceptable.
Most of the people I know who work 9-5, aren't up at 630.

    Irrelevant.

I work 9-5 and the only reason I wake up at 6:30am is because I have a 35 minute commute that is notorious for traffic and roadworks.

Everyone has different circumstances and we can't cater to everyone individually I think the unwritten general rules of neighbourly consideration include not making excess noise, especially when you are aware of it causing a problem.
