Just received my letter, I used to have an American Express card years ago but annoying as not all retailers accepted them due to high merchant fees charged. Looking at this site (not official) it looks like more retailers are accepting them but I'd still prefer a visa or mastercard.

Apologies in advance if this double posts - connection dropped when posting first time.0 -

Emailed Amazon asking what was going to happen once the existing Amazon card finished at the end of September.
This was the answer, although why they referred me to Bank of America seems a bit pointless!
Here is the reply -
Hello Pat,
As I can't speculate on future offers, I’m unable provide any additional information on this issue. Thank you for your feedback, I'll pass this on to the appropriate team internally.
As your question relates specifically to your Amazon.co.uk MasterCard, and not to an Amazon.co.uk order, we ask that you contact Bank of America Customer Service who will be able to assist you with this query.
Bank of America Customer Service can be called on:
Main customer service number - 0800 917 5235
Please note that the credit card provider for the Amazon.co.uk MasterCard is Bank of America.
I hope this helps. We look forward to seeing you again soon.0 -
I've just received an email from MBNA titled "Your Amazon.co.uk MasterCard® is changing…".
I've checked the FAQ hoping to see some mention of a new rewards program but nothing mentioned, so pretty much identical to the info that was in the letter.0 -
Same here.
If they had sent me now my final evoucher, I could close the account without them going to the expense of sending new cards out that I am only going to snip into little pieces. Ive already paid off the balance and snipped the current cards.illegitimi non carborundum0 -

I'll be doing the same, but I guess they're hoping that they'll get enough people sticking with their new card without rewards to make it worthwhile. From a personal point of view, I've also been offered the card without rewards, and it'll be another one consigned to the bin.DFW - DEBT FREEEEEE!

If you then get the bank account - no £5 reward on the card only on the bank account.
So if you went in that order of applications the only way to get £5 rewards on the card is to keep the bank account cancell the card wait (I think she said 1 month) then re-apply for the card. (I think she said apply while logged in to your current account)
Info from Halifax rep.
Obviously no rewards if you dont conform to the rewards rules in any one month0
