If your points balance is less than 1,000 (I have about 400 at the moment) will you get them as a voucher or will they just be lost?Cashback earned
Quidco : £858
Pigsback : £20 and a Beatles CD.0 -
voucher so long as u wait to be migrated.illegitimi non carborundum0

Thought it was worth mentioning here that Quidco are currently (until 14th September, unless they extend it) offering £25 cashback (increased from £20) on the Amex Platinum fee-based cashback card, so the cashback covers the whole fee for the first year.
Still not quite decided whether I'm going to go for this myself... but given the lack of other options...0 -
A lot of people are asking why Amazon are quiet about this all, and the way I see it (note it's all from my perspective), Amazon are only a Partner to MBNA (via Bank of America, everyone should remember that they are one and the same).
Much like Barclays were the sponsors to the Boris Bikes, (but at the interim assessment deemed it not worth it and so are cutting ties with the bikes).
Amazon, have been five years since the partnership started, and so must have been a five year partnership. At which point Amazon must not have deemed it worth their while, or maybe it was MBNA wanting more than Amazon were willing to give.
Either way when the partnership ends at the end of sept, so does the points and I very much doubt it's anything to do with 'Why aren't amazon bringing out another card', because as stated, it's not an Amazon card it's in sponsorship with them, that's all.
Another card company may approach Amazon, or amazon may approach another card company, but I very doubt that will happen. So from the 1st Oct, most of us will be moved onto a non-Points earning card, whilst some will continue to get some form of reward (this aspect of it is very unfair and beyond stupid, either migrate everyone to reward or everyone to non-rewards).
You're still earning points, so I don't understand why numerous people have already cut up their cards... Make the most of it till you can't. I intend to use my card till the 31st October and then only till I secure an alternative.
In terms of alternative, I'm thinking of a few options, though the one I know I will get is the Amex Platinum Cashback. My dad already has one, so by recommending myself through that I get £25, but so does he.
I'm personally going to go for the Fee paying one for the first year, because I make back that feein December when I buy my Annual travel card for £2k+ So I'll easily make the £2.5k limit and get £125 cashback (minus £25 fee to give me £100). The one without fee, I'd still be making £100 as that has a max 5% on £2k.
The difference between the two is that on the one wherei pay fee, I'll get back 1.25% compared to the starting cashback of 0.5% on the free one... So I can make upto an additional £20ish by using that card for a year. In fact as long as I spend more than £6200 in a year the fee Amex is actually worth it...
Now I know that I can't put everything on Amex, so as an alternative I'm thinking of getting a card that pays 0.5% interest not the best, but it's all that's there.
Best. Thing is, if I spend more than 10k next year on my anniversary month I can get back 2.5% back with no limits! and so as long as my anniversary month is December I can get my Oyster card then! and get £50 back on that...
Personally I'm hoping my MBNA card has rewards, as if it does I will just keep it depending on the benefits that I'm getting with it... Otherwise I'll move to a cashback CC.
Some of you may hopefully find some of the above useful.... Otherwise apologise for talking out aloud....0 -

They wont be lost. I had 817 points when I asked the same question via their messaging service. The reply was:
On 8 November 2014, the Amazon rewards scheme will cease, so if your points balance remains the same you will receive a discount voucher worth £8.17.You will receive 1p for every point spent up to £10, even if you haven’t reached 1000 points.Herman - MP for all!0 -

Im stuck as I am looking for a new card and the amex one you talked about was my first choice. But its worth taking a look at the lloyds choice credit card. Gives you an Amex and a Mastercard. Amex works out at 1% if you convert to cash of 1.5% if converting to vouchers (even amazon vouchers..), also has the options for air miles.
Downside is the mastercard essentially gives you 0.3% if converting to vouchers and 0.20% if direct to cash. So not ideal. Also watch the catch with the mastercard as seems that you only get points on it for transactions over £5. (and not sure if its then in multiples of £5.... If thats the case and say you spent £9.99 on a transactions, your cashback on the mastercard would end up being 0.05%... or 0.075% in vouchers. so worth being careful!
Oh but double points on amex for the first 6 months0 -

Just to clarify, Lloyds aggregate all your transactions at the end of the moment so you don't lose out. So for example if you had 11 99p transactions you still get points.0
