amazon credit card closing down

The card before the current Bank of America was with Halifax (I think?) which closed down with no sign of a replacement until after the finish date. I'm fairly sure there will be a replacement, but wait with baited breath as to who with and how (and how much!) the rewards will be earned...0

P.S. If you haven't already seen it there is a bit more info here... http://www.mbna.co.uk/mymbnarewards/ But still no real info on the way it will work.0

It'll probably be someone like American Express, the only ones who will be able to provide a decent rewards card.0 -
that was an assumption. and there is no 'someone like' American Express. if Amazon launch a new card, it will be an Amex card, in which case i can't imagine wanting one alongside/instead of an Amex Amex, or a Mastercard or Visa, either in partnership with another bank, or on their own.0

That doesn't bode well for me. Mine only says MBNA Credit Card, nothing about a rewards card or getting double points for the first three months... not good...
My letter states the same as yours - no mention of a rewards scheme at all.
I may give them a ring in the week and enquire.....0 -
Mine is the same - but as I've already got the MBNA Amexco Visa rewards combo anyway, I'm not that surprised.0

My letter also has no mention of a rewards scheme, it clearly mentions they'll be no rewards programme after September 30th and any earned Amazon points will be emailed as a gift voucher however when i called up to find out more details i was told my new MBNA card would be a rewards card. Guess its a case of wait and see.
As others have mentioned theres not a great deal of reward alternatives out there at present. As i have my Halifax Clarity reward card i'll probably end up using that for majority of purchases and just use the MBNA card for internet purchases.
I don't really want to start applying for new cards as may be looking at a mortgage in the near future and don't want anything to scupper my credit report.0 -
This article says 'majority' getting card.
I'm ditching mbna as soon as I have another card set up.

Don't shoot too soon. The "redeem points now" only takes you to Amazon to spend existing vouchers.
So, Ive paid off my outstanding balance, snipped my cards, and will wait for the end of Sept to receive my final evoucher, and my new cards, which will get snipped, and I will then close my account.
I have the Barclays Amex/Visa......I only took out the Amazon to escape from the dual card stupidity.illegitimi non carborundum0
