It's an ill wind.......
Amex cashback card now received and ready to go. 1.25% on all purchases (5% for the first 3 months up to £2500 and 2.5% for one month every year) which will more than cover the £25 pa fee.
Any non-Amex purchases will probably go onto a Halifax Clarity card for the £5 pm.0 -
My letter doesn't mention rewards, but I rang them and went through the security questions giving my card number etc and was told I would be getting a rewards card. Who knows!0

I've been through the demise of two Amazon Mastercards now, I think there was one maybe 7 or 8 years ago that was back by Halifax that was discontinued and migrated to a Halifax standard card. Now this one's gone as a well. Got the new Amex everyday card on its way (the one without the annual fee), and hopefully Barclaycard will be willing to switch my other card to a freedom rewards card for any non Amex purchases.
Shame, as I did like my Amazon voucher every month or two, but like everyone else I'll be stopping my spending and shutting it down once I get the replacement, as there's no mention of any rewards card on my letter.DFW - DEBT FREEEEEE!

Might be worth comparing this to the Barclaycard before I commit then. Still going to keep it as a backup to my Amex. Thanks for the info.DFW - DEBT FREEEEEE!

The best I can find for a general one and doesn't tie you to earning points for a specific thing with no annual fee is this.

0.5% cashback. I know others match this but they also pay you £10 each year for paying on time. For an average spender who like me uses Luma's 4% for Supermarkets & Petrol (I know it's no longer available for new users) so only puts a small amount for all other things then this is probably the best.0 -

I think you might just find that signature counter-productive........

Yes I recognise all those - so me too.I twice exchanged a five year old car and a hatful of GM Card points for a new car. When that ended I went through Conran Card, Egg Card, Barclaycard, and probably a few more. I even purchased a new car with some odd Halifax cashback debit card.
As murphy says, you remove the cashback, we remove the card.
(Currently enjoying the 2% cashback from Barclaycard Amex).
I'm finding Amex a bit tiresome as its not accepted everywhere and some internet payments like flights etc whack on a prohibitive percentage.0 -

Likewise. I've still got the Halifax card, it's one of my many legacy cards I only use (for some trivial purchase) when they tell me they're about to close the account for inaction. Nice to have tens-of-thousands in instant credit available, should I ever need it, from all them plastic cards sitting in my drawer! Similarly I'll probably keep the MBNA card unless they start making an annual charge for it.
I wait to see what Amazon does next. I'll bet they come up with something.Je suis Charlie.0 -

I have a Halifax Clarity card, but I don't know anything about the £5 pm. Am I missing something? Waiting to see what Amazon comes out with - used my Amazon card for everything (apart from abroad).0
