So I joined bt around 4 months ago. I paid for the line rental on a yearly basis.
If I use this increase to leave bt, will I get a proportion (8 months worth) of my line rental refunded?
Thanks
When you sign up it says its non-refundable.
But having said that when the price rises occurred last year people managed to get it refunded.

In some cases because your exchange has not been opened up to other providers, as is the case with many rural exchanges. For instance, I can get nothing but BT, and rural often means no decent mobile signal either, so no option to go that way either.
Iain
Thats actually incorrect as one of the top 3 cheapest alternatives is Plusnet who are owned by BT and will provide it through rural exchanges.0 -

And what deals do you think I can get on my Market 1 exchange minislim? None of the Plusnet really cheap specials, although in fairness they will offer one that is the same price as BT.
Market forces say that exchanges serving a total of 149 properties will never be highest up the list for upgrades.0 -
We have freeze our prices. The time you stay in contract you won't see any price rise.:money:0

I currently pay £16pm for my broadband with BT, and very recently renewed line rental saver.
As of the 1st of December this will increase from £16 to £17pm.
Can I use this increase to cancel, and then take up a new broadband contract with BT with little to no loss of service? BT currently advertise my package for £8pm with an additional £80 Sainsburys Gift Card.
Could I cancel my contract, and then setup a new one online and save £108 a year?
Due to buying Line Rental Saver I do not think I am able to switch ISPs.
EDIT - I'm 12 months into an 18 month contract, with the first 6 months "free", so obviously if I could cancel the contract and restart I've also effectively got half the contract "free" versus a third should it run to the end of the minimum term.
After some pushing apparently I can call to "opt out" of the price increase and stay on my current tariff - but only in December.
Is there some communication from BT that I can quote regarding early termination in this situation?Nothing I say represents any past, present or future employer.0 -
I've not yet had any communication regarding the price increase, but I've just called and as far as they care concerned the price increase does not allow me to cancel my contract early.

Yes you can refer them to website

Look under: What if I'm unhappy with the price rises?
I spoke to them they said i could once i had letter or email.:D
I Used this number 0800 328 6738 and asked for a mac code they told me to call back when i had got notice of increase.
I also chatted to there online chat and they confirmed i could leave. ( keep a copy of your conversation if you use this route.);)0 -
I see lots of tips here for saving a penny or two on phone calls and line rental. But, some of the better deals go unnoticed. You don't need to sign up to terrible EE, Primus or Talktalk customer service and a contract tie-in to get the very best service and price.
Zen are a multi-award winning phone and broadband provider. How does £11.22 line rental sound, with NO contract tie-in, NO call connection charge, PER SECOND billing, the LOWEST call rates and top UK customer service sound? Kick BT et al into touch.

My son is looking for no-commitment broadband for his digs. I noticed that Zen has a 1 month cancelation so went straight to Zen's sign up page to see what installation will cost. You must enter an existing BT number and cannot skip this step!
So does this make Zen the only ISP that doesn't actually arrange new connections?0 -
BT billing are adding £4.84 for HD Sport when plain ordinary BTSport is free to its broadband customers. If you call up they will remove it but how many people don't realise it should be free. BT WILL MAKE THOUSANDS OF POUNDS FROM THIS0
