September 2014 Grocery Challenge

Not been on for a week or so, just so busy right now. I am hoping I will settle into a routine again as I feel as if I hardly have time for anything.
Food wise we are reasonably well organised. Dinners are ok but I do struggle to think of appetising lunches that I can take to work that aren't sandwiches. Invariably I give up and end up taking sandwiches.0 -
NSD yesterday.
I will have another as I have no car today & i'm planning on catching up with loads of fiddly little jobs.Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud.0 -
An @sda visit...not my usual supermarket but went to the tip and it's next door. Some things cheaper than Morrys but a lot of stuff more expensive. Anyway got a box of YS stirfry veg for 50p, big bag of red peppers...with the obligatory green one in there.... plus a few bits...and a bar of basic chocolate for cooking...total £4.89GC - Oct £36.17/£31
GC - Sep £35.56/£30:o
GC - Aug £30.73/£31
GC - Jul £30.80/£310 -
Grocery spends for the months so far...
Monday 1st
A!di : £9.02 - general top-up shop
Thursday 4th
A!di : £26.94 - the grocery part of my 'spend £40 and get £5 off' from previous weeks paper
Monday 8th
Icel@nd : £2.14 - ready meal for DS1 as I wasn't likely to be home from hospital appt to get his tea between him getting up and leaving for work, plus a twin pack of frozen Pvkka pies on half price offer (OH hasn't had them before, and they had large bags of them last time we were at Costc0 - so this way he can try before he buys)
A!di : 34p - garlic bread to go with the chilli I'm making for tea tonightCheryl0 -
My total stands at £118.79 out of a £200 budget with 3 weeks to go. Last night £4.50 was spent on a kebab and a can of pop for DH who was craving a takeaway and hasn't had one since June. I had the pasta I had made for tea and he has taken his portion to work for his lunch today so nothing wasted.
I have 3 weekly shops to do out of £81.21 which is a bit unlikely but I will do my best to keep it below £250 total which will be an improvement on last month.
Chicken and leek pie for tea tonight, going to try it with a sliced potato topping instead of the usual breadcrumbs:)Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
Pay off £7000 - £1743 - 19.4%
Make £2021 extra income - £99.750 -
Weekly food shop came today and was £1 over the planned £62.50 to keep me on budget.
I bought a half side of salmon on offer at half price. I normally buy 2 frozen pre-made salmon en-croutes for me and DH and decided I would have a go at making mine own tonight. 2 salmon fillets (220g) were £4.00 which is the same cost as the pre-made ones I usually buy but the salmon side was £6.00 for 500g so made more sense. I can use 250g for the en-croutes later and stick the other 250g in the freezer for a posh pasta or something else with salmon fillets.
Stocked up on a few storecupboard bits too, plain flour, bread flour, suet, baking powder, yeast, so I am hoping to get back to baking a few bits and pieces too.
Don't need anything else this week now as I have stocked up on bread and also going to have a go at making my own this week. Milk should hopefully last us as only me and DH use it (DS still on formula milk).
Current spend is £127.65/£250.00Debt free since May 20150 -

Hi All,
Reporting 2 Ald1 spends and a couple of top-ups at a total of £56.50 leaving me with £135.50 for 11 days - I'm down the freezer stocks so may need to restock a little but I'm hopeful for an underspend!
While I remember, for you Ald1 shoppers, Quite a few fresh meaty things have been reduced. My favourites are Butcher's choice Sausages 89p (from £1.39) and Chorizo rings £1.35 (from £1.49). I noticed that other pork type products and beef mince were reduced too, not short dated, but didn't note the prices. :money:Grocery challenge:December 2022 £151.96/£400 .
