£3.49 spent today watercress, beef tomatoes, coleslaw and onions.
We are having chicken wrapped in bacon with stuffed tomatoes and a watercress salad for tea tonight.
Have just dropped of a large bag to the charity shop, some toys the grand children no longer want and a few other bits and bobs also managed to recycle a couple of large plastic containers and gave neighbour a small amount of wood for his log burner. DH took a metal frame down at Mums yesterday so she is waiting to see if the scrap man comes around this week or not, he does come often so shouldn't be too long.

Have a frugal week everyone and good luck.
    MARCH £62.38/250
  • Eggs bought this morning and some large potatoes to replace the ones I used for the roast dinner yesterday - £3.87.

This leaves £74.04 left and I can sense we need more milk and our washing detergent is mighty low...this is getting tough! Pay day is the end of next week so just 2 more weeks to go...I can sense the pulling in of the purse strings!

Well done everyone and good luck this week :)

  • Never send OH shopping-as he comes back with far more than is on a list, plus stuff he fancies!!!

    Need to reassess.

The only shock was the cost of the mushy peas, small cups at £1.30 each! Proportionally it was more expensive than the fish, ridiculous and it won't happen again.

I'm always shocked at the price of mushy peas in fish and chip shops too - especially when you can get a can (=2 of the shop portions!) for 16p in Ald! (and they're good mushy peas too).
Chicken in slow cooker for dinner tonight (first time I've done a chicken in it, smells lovely!) and need to get on with making apple crumble with apples from my parents garden.

How did chicken in the slow cooker go? I've been meaning to try it for a while.
Hello! I'm coming a bit late to the party but would like to join in for September. We've just moved house and I've just had a baby (4 weeks old!) so after some rather frivolous spending on baby and new furniture for the house! I'd like to start saving some money! Mainly so we can do nice things with little one!

    Congratulations and welcome :)

A whole £1.98 spent today on Friday afternoon goodies (doughnuts!) and a tube of Pringles for Christmas. (Had no cash, only card so felt I should spend over £1 before using it!).

I know it costs them a fixed amount processing a card transaction, but I always wonder how much a cash transaction "costs" them when you consider someone having to count it, then storage, transportation... Anyone got any idea?

  • A little late joining this month as just returned from holidays. I am not including last week as that was included in holiday savings and we are at having a holiday at home this week. I am starting from Friday 12th September so only two weeks this month as payday is early.
I am aiming at £90.00 for those two weeks which seems a lot but I underestimated last month so I am going to reduce down slowly. At the moment my household budget aims at £45.00 a week for two of us.
Will update as I spend from Friday.:)
