Las Vegas accommodation - luxury options

Have found that MGM signature allows you to 'upgrade' to a guaranteed high floor room for $40. This is the kind of guarantee I'm looking for. Haven't found this option on any other sites though...If anyone knows of any such option, please let me know.
Thanks!
Encore used to as I booked one a few years ago. Mirage also did and you could also specify volcano (strip) view for the top few floors. Can't remember the name of the rooms but both were about $20 or $30 more than the standard room.0 -

Personally I would take my chance with a view like ferf got at the Cosmo than the distant view of the tops and rear views of hotels you will get at the Signature. I can't even remember looking out of the window at the Signature so the view couldn't have been great.
You could also get a high floor there and get a view of the mountains. Is that what you are after?
I think we were around the 20th floor of the Cosmo and the view was perfect. In fact lower would have been find as we would have been able to hear the music from the Bellagio better.
In 16 trips of 3-4 hotels per trip, we have never failed to get a high floor when we have asked for it.
What experience do you have that makes you certain you are going to get a low floor unless you guarantee it?0 -
Cosmo. Book a Terrace Studio then It's usually $30 a night to upgrade to something high with a view at check in. If you are feeling really flash you can sometimes get a Terrace Suite or a Wraparound Suite at an additional $50/$75 per night respectively.0

I'm a bit confused as to what you actually want as you liked the idea of the Strat.
Is it about just height or view ?
For example I've had fountain view at the Flamingo that was higher but not such a great view as a fountain view at CP as the angle was steeper.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -
also a bit confused particularly as it all started with luxury and not sure that the Strat would meet that criteria...I suppose it might when compared with roadside motels, etc...but compared to other offerings in Vegas it wouldn't, though cost would be a lot less...for their top-level room it looks like about $90/night...for a very short trip it is also pretty much out on its own so not the most convenient location, though of course taxis are plentiful.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0

Hi. Im writing this from las Vegas!
I wanted pretty much the same as your trip for this trip and I did a lot of homework. Firstly I would say for what you want avoid strat. It just doesn't feel luxury enough for a special break. You can always visit their floor 107 restaurant with mediocre food, for cocktails and the view.
everyone has their own opinions but for a short first visit I would try to b placed somewhere between wynn in the north and cosmo or aria in the south.
Your budget should get you something good, l.v. has so many hotels email them saying what u want.. I got a room that appeared to be fully booked on a spec offer by doin that.
Renember the luxury experience you want for your wife wont all come from the view. Think of the hotel you have to walk through etc.
cosmos suites overlooking bellagio were on my short list but ive heard bad reports about room cleanliness and staff helfulness... that would ruin a good view.. also they target a very young trendy crowd ... I like the wicked spoon buffet at cosmo but I am always happy to leave the hotel to go ' home ' as im just not keen on its vibe... others will disagree tho !!
belagio fountain view v nice but rooms not as luxury as you are after. Venetian rooms are all classed as suites , good location, don't know how you guarantee high floor tho.
If id had the money id have got a sky loft... but I dont so cosmo was high on my list but then disregarded because of above and low floor issue you are finding. I am too much of a controlling planner for risks like that!! So in the end I went for a mirage tower suite... guaranteed above 25th floor, suite only elevators, strip view really good but nt quite as good as that cosmo utube clip, pool lovely and nice atmosphere w mixed crowd, separate topless party pool if that's ure thing!!
I have found the staff amazing, concierge useful, good online comms b4 etc. The place is less grand than venetian with its shops and canal but its a really nice place to stay. You tube has vids of the room.
Aria meant to be nice but little walk eg 1 block to strip, dont know about view though.0 -
Wow ferf1223...that is exactly the view I'm looking for!
But I've emailled cosmopolitan and they will not guarantee a high floor so I could be in your suite or I could be just a few floors off the ground. I really want this to be a special couple of days so can't take the chance of a low floor.
Yes...I DO want to be that high!
Why do you want to be that high. Is it just a height thing or do you want a view, and if you want a view, what do you want a view of.0 -
I personally wouldn't do it for a short trip but the Palms has some amazing suites with Strip views......would take no longer to get to centre Strip than it would from the Strat (or possibly less) too.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

FWIW, when I stayed at the Vdara I was on the 46th floor with a fountain view. Nothing pre-booked other than the room type, just asked at check-in.
But as you've found, most hotels won't guarantee a high floor, unless you get a penthouse. Here's a few that I know of off the top of my head...
Four Seasons - This is "hotel within a hotel" and sits at the top of Mandalay Bay, so every room is high floor. You have to pay extra for strip view, but it's one of the best being right at the south end.
Mirage Tower King/Suite - These are guaranteed to be the top floors, although the Mirage is only about 30 something stories. The south facing pool view rooms have a great view right down the strip.
Bellagio Premier View rooms - Any room type that has the premier option. These are guaranteed to be in the top 7 (from memory) floors of the main building, and have that iconic view.
Hotel32 - Another "hotel within a hotel", this is on the top floor of the Monte Carlo. Views aren't the best from here, IMO.
Aria Sky Suites - Another mini-hotel, this is on top of the Aria and one of a handful of genuinely 5 star hotels on the strip. Again, views aren't the best from here if you're looking for the classic strip view.
But personally... if I wanted THE view, I would go with a Cosmo Terrace Studio Fountain View, or a Terrace Suite (all have fountain views) if you wanted the extra space. You don't need to be super high for this view to be amazing, anything from 30 up would be fine. But it does go all the way up to 50 something so you have a pretty good chance of not being too low.0
