Las Vegas accommodation - luxury options

Hi all
I've posted before in relation to this. I visit Vegas every year but am taking the missus for her first US trip. We're doing a roadtrip tour of the southwest in October and spending 2 nights in Vegas.
We'll be in motels along the route so I want our final 2 nights in vegas to be in a really nice suite. Having had a brief look on a few websites, my preference at present is one of the Vdara panoramic suites.
Has anyone stayed in these suites? Does anyone know which floors they are on? I'd love a high floor suite and don't want to take the chance of a low floor suite (willing to pay more to guarantee higher but don't want to take the chance of leaving it until checkin to try for an upgrade).
Alternatively, can anyone recommend a nice luxury suite/room (budget c. £300-£350 for the whole stay - 2 nights) which I can book with a guaranteed high floor suite/room? Don't need to have a view of anything in particular but part of the strip would be awesome.
Thanks!

Cant advise specifically on Vegas...but, why not read recommendations on tripadvisor, then book direct through hotel specifing the room/floor/view you want that way you can be sure you will get what you want and might be cheaper booking direct.
Also I have booked through expedia a number of times asking for lower floor rooms (theres an option to make specific requests when you book) and I've always been accommodated though I guess that the hotel gets the final say so I think the safest bet is booking direct. Also get them to confirm in an email that they are giving you that floor/room whatever in case they deny it when you turn up!
By the way I'm amazed you can get 2 nights in a luxury hotel for £300! I've never been to Vegas though (or America for that matter) seems really good value.0 -
bairn, it might be worth asking in the special Las Vegas thread:

Vegas is about gambling and entertainment, comparatively hotels and food are cheap. Even places like the Mandarin Oriental or Four Seasons are sub £200 a night for a room. The same hotels in London or New York are over £450 a night.
If you have status with the hotel chain or have a top end credit cards they also fawn over you a lot more and give much better free upgrades than their NYC and London counterparts. Obv all in the hope that a happy guest is one thats more likely to be willing to be parted with their money.0 -
Suite in the Venetian with Strip view? All rooms in the Venetian are suites, so you are only upgrading the view.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I like the corner suites at Aria. I paid $180 a night and that included a $50 resort credit per night so it was a fantastic deal. The city view rooms have good views. The rooms have slightly different configurations but the one I had last week had the bedroom on the corner which I preferred to the bathroom on the corner.
The Mandarin is also good. I've found the service not up to that of other Mandarins around the world but I'd say if you want luxury in Vegas it's one of the best choices.
Encore has nice suites but it's a bit far north for a short visit. I liked the Palazzo suites but not so keen on the casino. I also really liked the Octavius tower at Caesars but again I'm not so keen on the casino.0 -

Vegas is one place where I wouldnt reccomend reading tripadvisor, instead ask on the Vegas sticky.
As has been said rooms are cheap (comparitively speaking) compared to many major cities.
You should try it
OP the Octavious tower (Caesers palace) overlooking the fountains at Bellagio is special, although not a true suite but them most suites in Vegas arent.
Venetian and palzzo are all suites but the cheapest suites are still just one room so it depends on your definition.
THE Hotel is all suites and they do have seperate living room and bedroom and are very nice, prob more so now as I think it has been remodelled and may now be called Delano0 -
the Vdara room looks pretty amazing in terms of views.
Not sure how prices compare - it might be out of the price range - but I would look at Cosmopolitan Terrace Suite as well...I think having the terrace you can sit out on makes it that little bit extra special.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
I'd advise the Wynn - its bloody lovely in there. I think its out of your budget though its been a few years since I've been.
Bellagio is ok, but was less than impressed with it. I was super impressed with the Venetian - they have a godiva chocolate shop inside - the views were lovely, and the rooms were pretty good.0 -
I don't think Wynn would be out of the budget...Encore might be though between the two we like the Encore rooms much more...next to Cosmo Terrace Suite the Encore rooms are our favourites - though we have still yet to stay at Palazzo or Venetian...one day.
There is actually a 72-hour sale on at Wynn on their website at the moment. I do think for a short trip it may be a bit far north as has already been mentioned.
Bellagio is overrated IMHO.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
Thanks all, all great suggestions.
The only thing is, I want to book a guaranteed high floor room. I've spoken to Vdara and they say that they will not guarantee a high floor room and it will depend on what rooms are ready/available when I check in
So I'm looking for hotels which give you the option of specifically booking a high floor room (or alternatively a certain suite/room which can only be found on higher floors).
Any suggestions?
Thanks0
