Me, back again. What a lovely post from Ste.... and the posts that have come up since I had to pop off to work have been really interesting - nearly all focussed on the need for treats for all. Glad to hear you're off out on Friday; I won't be on after (maybe) Friday morning for the weekend, so, in case it doesn't come up again before then, have a great weekend. And a great tonight, actually!

Ok,I am going to pounce in with my tuppence worth here-

My DH and I had a discussion the other day about 'feeling guilty' and he asked me if I ever felt guilty about doing things without the kids (like when he goes to the gym) and I said a resounding NO! I think that to be a better parent you NEED to spend time alone without your children and you NEED time to do your own thing-it makes you appreciate your time together more and therefore a better parent.

I think Ste having the PS3 whilst a bitter pill to swallow for all IA Fan Club members is something that makes them both HAPPY. And that is good. BUT (and my BUT is a big one lol) I also know that Sar needs to get out more, spend more on herself (and I don't necessarily mean money-a nice bubble bath, a walk in the park, a coffee with mates (me) etc) but then a huge part of depression is apathy to do ANYTHING. I firmly believe that children need to be introduced to different enviroments to help them be more secure so getting out to the library, park, mum/toddler groups etc will help everyone.

I'm rambling now, but the point I am trying to make is-We love you Sar, we want you to treat YOU so you can benefit and be happy. (God, not that you AREN'T but , AHHHH, you know what I mean!!!!!)

    Ste, you are a treasure.

I think the good luck wishes for tonight are because of the "beer" for Ste for tonight! That was such a lovely post from him as well!

You're doing so well - and I can't wait to read about this £100 you won!!!

I'm not quite sure how to read this. Can I just make a few points clear though..
I didn't ask anyone to send us the m&s vouchers.. they did so out of the kindness of their heart. I've always been completely open in here and I haven't decieved anyone or lied so get sympathy in the hope people will send us money or vouchers. I'm not that kind of person.
I'm really sorry you thought this and I have a well-deserved I think nasty taste in my mouth and it's because you're honest and completely open rather than forget about the PS3 that we all get to dissect your life. It is completely bizarre though that you would have gone with out the cake that was important to you (look at the pictures) and pages of paying off that b****y citi card suddenly to find a PS3 pop up. You wouldn't have got the cake if you hadn't had friends to make you get it - force you with vouchers. Pages of mind-numbing scrimping and fretting about whether to get the cake. Maybe I completely misread it but it seemed other people and the gifts were the only way you'd get something and then the random PS3 appeared on the scene which makes the cake issue daft.

It's a moderation thing though I don't know who's got funnier ideas about spending you or Mr. IA or which is unhealthier him having to ask permission until you agree or you constantly depriving yourself - in terms of the SoA I think there is some balance lacking - sorry I'm not apologising for thinking the balance is wrong but it sounded very bad. Steve's a grown up, he holds down a reasonable job, he pays his tax, he can work out what you can both afford for himself and when, what's the reason to say no when debt free? He clearly doesn't go out boozing, womanising etc.and if having the PS3 is so important to you both then *stick it in the joint budget* next time (no doubt there'll be a PS4 and a PS5 to join their little friends....) and plan for it long term. If you've been having a pester session for months and it has to be bought then appreciate it's part of the budget. It would be nice for your daughters to grow up seeing a mum can spend a little money sensibly and enjoy life within a budget.

I know this is your life and nobody has any right to judge but people get a little protective/parental after the pages of sheer hard deprivation and work and I'd hate to see a daughter of mine scrimping to your levels with the self-deprivation (which is self-inflicted). Can't the next 'treat' be something really joint like a day out or holiday, a joint goal?

Hi Sarah, I must admit I felt the same as some others about Ste's new toy and think that you deserve some treats too. However I appreciate your honesty and at the end of the day it's your business. Please dont stop posting I would miss you and so would many others. Take care xx
