Oh my, if you're a bad mum I must be Joan Crawford!! I never yell at the kids anymore, I don't need to. See when they were younger they'd get the sharp edge of my tongue, I think I scared the life out of them because I only have to throw them one of my looks now and they turn into little angels.

I've only ever slapped a child (the middle one) once. She was 6 and we were on holiday in Majorca. The little monster refused to go to bed, she was jumping around being a nightmare at gone midnight. Then she decided to run into the hallway and start knocking on every door on the floor. She looked at me all defiantly when I said, knock on another door and you'll need to walk home because your bum won't take being sat on for the flight home. She then laughed at me and said 'you wouldn't dare' and carried on knocking on doors. I grabbed her and slapped her leg, not even that hard, but the shock of it was written all over her face. She's been good ever since :D in fact to this day she talks about it. Said she never wanted to annoy me again.

On top of that, they spent their early years on tour busses and shoved in dressing rooms, I can't tell you how many times I have breast fed from side of stage. At home they had to sleep with drums, guitars, you name it blaring out of the next room (they are pretty heavy sleepers now though :rotfl: ) They can't watch some kid crap like high school musical or Hannah Montanna without one of us moaning about bum notes and auto tune.

So, sar, you are to motherhood what Jeff Porcaro is to a shuffle (that's a good thing everyone :D ) We all have bad days, but the good ones pad them out nicely, so as long as the good ones out number the bad, you're doing ok.

That's so like us it's unbelievable :rotfl: Ste now wants a guitar and also an acoustic drumkit for potential gigs as he says they have more stage presence  He's also been eyeing up upgrades for the electronic kit as he wants to use a double pedal and apparently needs a new type of bass drum trigger... plus extra pads... plus new cymbal triggers.... the list is endless! What have you started toto!! lol...
That laney amp kicks out some serious bottom end bass and because of that Ash can sleep through anything including K crying right next to her in her cot... just wish K was the same!!

  • Speaking of K... *sigh*

Last night she was exhausted and was in bed by 6. Woke up a few times before we went to be but settled back down. 4.30 she woke up, then 5.30 but then wouldn't go back to sleep and ended up coming in with us.
I've had enough now. PMT and tiredness don't mix and Ste even asked me this morning if it was the depression coming back which made me feel like crap. *sigh*

Let's hope the rest of today goes better.

I hate to say it but Ste's right, I've never gigged an electronic kit. I do use some pads though with the acoustic for various percussion type effects. I do think electronic kits are fantastic for home practice, but I think they look daft on a stage.

The V drums are very nice, I've got a full V drum kit, it has the effect of skins rather than the pads. No doubt Ste will want one of those for the kick, but I think you'd need to change the brain to a TD8 because I'm not sure the TD6 can take V pads.

I've got some suggestions if he's thinking about acoustic. Sadly I would say don't buy cheap. My Noble and Cooley is just plain sexy, the Yamaha is also a lovely kit. Anyway, give me a yell when he's looking at kits and I'll offer my opinion for you.

Hope the day gets better, the good thing about PMS is it passes in a day or two unlike other kinds of feeling crappy when you don't know when it'll end.

Ste's used it a couple of times for band practice and the current drummer has one... but we find that once you've got it and a mic plugged into the PA the mic gets washed out... not sure why.. any suggestions?

Don't tell him that!! lol I've only JUST agreed to let him get a KD8 kick pedal so he can use a double pedal lol

Thanks... his last full kit was a gretsch which cost £700+ so I think an acoustic will be going to the back of the cue of things we're saving up for! lol

Thanks :) I feel better at the mo.. will see how the day pans out. I'm expecting a visit from auntie flo and the next week or 2 (irregular so your guess is as good as mine lol) so am pretty sure it's PMT.
