IA's 'Does my bum look big in this Debt?' Diary

Same in the Midlands, some schools have nursery where children can attend (generally am or pm only!) from the September when they are 3 going on 4 (between September 1st and August 31st), once they are 4 going on 5 they are generally expected to attend school full-time - starting in Reception. I don't know anyone that kept their children out till 5.5 but I'm sure they do.
IA definately look at some local pre-school/playgroups, because of OFSTED they have come on in leaps and bounds ( not that they weren't brilliant in the past)!! My kids did 1 year at playschool and a year at nursery it was good for them (and me)!!I stopped smoking 25th June 2007STILL Never complacent but confidentMy debt is GOING DOWN!!!!0 -
What kind of mother lets their kids poo on the floor!?!?
Hands up if you think IA should commit one of her singing performances to YouTube?? :T :T"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
it is fairly common here (Scotland) where 28Feb/1 MArch is the cutoff point meaning that my DS would be barely 4.5 going to school if he went in the "right" year but had he born in March as I was he would have to stay back to 5.5, so I went at 5 and 5 months basically as I had no option, I am opting to keep him back until 5 and 6 mths as I feel it is better not to go as early as 4 and 6 mths. I am steeling myself for a fight with the local [strike]gestapo[/strike] headteacher over it (she makes things up as she goes along that one)but she will just have to lump it. Places like Scandinavia and Holland don't send kids to school nearly as early as us. I have spoken to umpteen teacher friends about it and without fail they have said better to hold him back if I can as they say you can do no harm really by keeping them back at that stage but put them too early and they are often forever trying to keep up. One friend said she had 4 kids in her last P1 class that shouldn't have been there for another year and there was only one child she felt wouldn't have benefited from an extra year at home. This way he gets more preschool time too and he will still be learning through play rather than the rigid classroom teaching you get as soon as you enter "proper" school. Round here most of the mums have done the same with the kids on the " cusp"0 -

Morning...
Hurrah it's wednesday ie tax credits day! :T It's rather sad that I look forward to getting money from the state to live off but there you go.. it means I can go shopping tonight. My aim tonight is to spend as little as humanly possible and see if we can cut the food bill down any. Already put £23.75 into savings and about to move an extra £10 as realised we don't need petrol this week as only put in £20 on monday.
Have also written 2 letters, one to vanquis cancelling my card now the bills paid off (£4.57 :rotfl: I love getting bills like that) and the cashback has been paid out from topcashback. :T Also written to Ste's phone insurance that came with the dialaphone deal to cancel. It was free for 3 months so going to cancel it now.
Unfortunately that £250 from our friends is looking more and more unlikely now. ah well... c'est la vie. We don't want them to starve just to pay us back and we'r enot desperate for it right now.
Oh and today I AM going to do some housework. Honest!Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

Can I suggest asking your friends for an installment.
Get them to give you something every week, even if it's just £5 or £1.
It'll chip away slightly at the debt and keep it in everyone's heads that it exists.0 -
I would but they've got a lot of problems at the minute and I don't want her to think I'm pressuring her.Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043
