Yes I was asking, but that didn't mean I was gonna turn it down if I didn't a 'good' answer0

I hope it goes well for you, good luck for your first shift.0

OK another update
I have done 4 shifts now (Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday), and I am really enjoying working again, I have done 29.5 hours in the 4 days and will have done 43 hours by this Sunday
Manager seems really happy with how I am progressing, I pretty much know my job now & I have only had 3 proper shifts as Sunday was my Induction Day (paid)
Most of the other staff are really impressed with how I am progressing, one of the other cooks said that I took him 2 weeks to earn what I have learnt in 3 days, possibly gonna be cooking on my own from Monday for 2 weeks (although we have another trainee coming in soon), & I will be teaching him after only a week or 2 in the job myself, so all seems well at the moment
I have more hours next week (poss. 52.5) so not bat at all for a ZHC
Also passed my Food Hygiene, Chicken Cooking Procedures, Cleaning Procedures & Health & Safety yesterday (06.09.2014) so all in all a good week0 -
Huge respect to you, OP. At the beginning of the thread I wasn't convinced you'd take the job. You seem to have a very positive mindset. Am so pleased for you.
KFC will be a stepping stone, make the most of it. If you stay, the promotional prospects are good even if the salaries don't always follow proportionate to responsibility, they do eventually catch up.
Congratulations.0 -
Sounds great. Well done OP0

The OP has inspired me,
My situation is slightly different, I am in an avaerage paid full time, permanent job, but can't see any longterm prospects and the team I work within is very cliche...
I am going to get myself on those sites above and set about getting a change.0 -
RedfordML, what is it that you currently do for work & what do you aspire to do with your work life, everyone has aspirations0
-
I am 30+, have a degree and currently work in a support role in a high school.
I am clueless as to future career aspirations, to get anywhere I accept I will have to go for entry level work but as I have a family I need to earn a certain amount...
(I have been in educational support roles since 2007 - just little long term prospects.)
I like the idea of working for a larger company, working my way up but seems majority are laying staff off, rather then employing...0 -
OP it feels good to be working again doesn't it ?
I felt the same after 6 months of not working.0 -
But, to be slightly more serious, a ten mile cycle is not far, hard, or (in general) dangerous. It's quite depressing that some on here think its an unreasonable way to get to work. I suspect that some horrified at the thought are in 32"+ waisted trousers, and could do with a bit more cycling themselves...
I usually read over your posts and agree, but this I can't.
First and foremost, 10 miles is not 30 minutes on hilly terrain unless you are really quite fit and can hold a 20mph pace on average the entire journey. Not taking in to factors the type of bike you're using and the weather, head or tail winds. If you're using a mountain bike, its harder, easier on a hybrid with thinner tyres, you'd need a lightweight road bike to achieve the time you're suggesting - personally, when I used to commute 8.5 miles, it'd take me between 50 minutes to an hour, and that was pretty much all up-hill on the way there. The trip to work was (according to google maps) just under an overall 600ft climb, with a 276ft drop in the middle, but some of the hills on the trip were killer and I was shattered when I got to work.
I doubt my other half's dad could do 10 miles on a cheap and heavy bike in 30 minutes and he's a very keen and active cyclist.
Also insinuating that people with waistline 32"+ are unfit? At my fittest, I'm 34" - If I was any lower I'd look (and probably be) physically ill or need to be half a foot shorter (I'm 6ft 1").Professional Data Monkey
