I had a chat with my manager today & he said that he wants me to learn all areas of the restaurant, so I have more variety in my job & the manager can give me different shifts (Cook, Middle & Till, I am currently only a cook), also once I have learnt all the areas I will get an extra 10p per hour, lol
I still have not had to use my bike (Which is good as its broken) as I have finished on time to catch the last bus, so been lucky so far, lol
So everything is going good for me at the moment (Could possibly do with some more money, lol)
I'm so glad you come back and update us all, letting us know that things are still working out for you
This past month we have suffered a quiet time. So hours have been cut to the bone. However I'm still getting shifts and next week I'm covering for holidays then our Christmas bookings start so hours will increase
Hubby hasn't worked the past month either so very little money coming in. However the hassle of having to sign on and off every two weeks means I just get a wee bit more canny with the house keep and we still manage
I guess what I'm saying is, even though your money isn't the best, try put a few bob aside when you can. You never know what's around the corner
All the continued success with this job, and your future0 -
Hi all
I am sorry I have not been back to update you all recently, but I am here now to tell you that I have now completed my Middle of House & Front of House training & I am just waiting for the manager to sign we off on both areas
I am still loving my job & the people I work with are great, I am going to apply for Shift Manager at the end of Feb, so fingers crossed I get that
I am hopefully buying a new bicycle on Tuesday, so no more bloody bus fares, lol
Thanks for all your support

I have recently been given a 4 hour contract at work now, so better that ZHC0

You already have a bicycle, why pay bus fares?0 -
You already have a bicycle, why pay bus fares?
Because it is bloody hard work cycling nearly 15 miles all the time, I like to give my legs time to rest, so I get the bus
I cycle one week then get the bus the next so my legs can rest maybe soon when I am a bit fitter I may be able to cycle all the time, but not at the moment0 -

My question was in relation to the bolded sentence which appears to indicate that if you had a bike you wouldn't be getting the bus.0 -

Well done on the progress, what did you have to do at work to get to where you are now ?0 -

Not really. Plenty of people cycle to work every. Where I completed my PhD, many of the lecturers would cycle in, some up to 12 miles each way. Also this was in a part of the country where it rains more often than not.
Also, I would cycle perhaps two days, then have a rest day. To cycle one week and then not the next is not going to improve your ability to cycle as that is silly. And actually your fitness will actually be lower at the end of your "rest week" than it was at the start.0 -
perhaps you should try one of those electric ones eventually when you have the money. My Signature is MY OWN!!0
