I put a wanted on freecycle last night for demijohns- someone has very kindly said they'll drop a couple off for me today, but as a noob freecycler, is there a particular etiquette for situations like this? Am I expected to offer some recompense for fuel or something? :o

Well done TWEETS on the weight loss. If only I could follow in your footsteps. Having said that, I am normal weight but as everyone else at home is stick insect thin, I feel massively obese! Not good is it.

Thanks so much to the OP and QOC for The BS glitch. This is my first ever order at The BS. Feeling well spesh!

CJJ brought it across before I did :T

Glad you got it though :D

I do get a little buzz when I pay off a load of debts on payday (I have to stop myself from over paying them! )
But agree it's depressing when you see it come in and vanish again.
Even worse today as DH overtime hasn't been paid to him properly

we had a little blip last month but now I reckon it was because OH was on the wrong tax code and when it was righted the tax was adjusted. Mind you we had a couple of nice days away staying in Ripon so I spent that so it did not actually make a difference :D

We have no outings organised at all in September (apart from the final JL cake run) so its going to seem like a very long month. All of the brood are running around doing exciting things so it makes it worse when our exciting event is the new fence!

I've freecycled a lot of stuff as an 'offerer' or whatever the term is, and occasionally dropped off stuff - I've never expected any recompense, nor ever been offered any to be honest.
You could always offer some glitch stash, or a HM bun or biscuit or jar of something HM, if you wanted.

this is very kind of them, normally you don't need to give something but someone did bring me some chocs once.
When I freecycled fruit last year someone brought me a jar of their jam when they had made it :D

    The things children say, pt2...

Small boy: ‘I know how to make babies, you know.’
‘Oh, really?’ replies the grown-up, as casually as possible.
‘Yes, I do. I’ve just learnt how to make babies.’ A [ahem!] pregnant pause. ‘Do you know how to make babies then?’
‘I do, yes,’ replies the grown-up.
‘How do you make babies, then?’ the little boy asks, looking the grown-up straight in the eye.
‘You go first,’ says the grown-up.
‘Well’, says the little boy,‘I knock the “y” off and add “i-e-s’’.’

I get paid weekly and i never get excited about my wages. I bank them straight away.

in my experience, i am not really sure that big wages are all they are cracked up to be.

My manager earnt double the amount he does now but the pressure, the time away from his son etc weren't worth it.

I only take home 40 pounds more now than 14 years ago. But i seem to be doing so much more with it.:D

Being paid in cash or being paid weekly is so much easier to handle but few firms still do this.

We are paid every 4 weeks which has always meant weird juggling of funds - for instance this is one of the few months where we get paid and the credit card goes out over the weekend and then the Direct Debits on Monday - perfect - like the sun and the moon all coming into alignment.
But gradually the gap widens again between pay day, credit card bill and direct debits day
