I think my bank have committed fraud

I went to my branch to withdraw some money last week and was asked for no ID they simply handed the money over no questions asked. So obviously I made a complaint and they said in the letter I received today that I had signed an acknowledgement slip when I withdrew the money but I distinctly remember not signing anything. The letter said that because my signature matched their records that they were confident the correct producedure had been followed. I strongly suspect that they have panicked and faked my signature. I have demanded to see a copy of this signature. It is worrying that your own bank can do this to you. Has this happened to any of you?

And if they have (which seems unlikely) what are you expecting ?0 -
Are you absolutely sure you didn't sign anything? Also did you get a receipt from the cashier for your withdrawal?
From my experience they usually get you to sign a piece of paper with the amount on that you have asked to be withdrawn, then they give you your money with a receipt.
Also as you knew you had taken the money out yourself, and they have given your money to you whom is the correct person, what kind of fraud are you accusing your bank of?
Seems to me they have done nothing wrong at all!!Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both. :cool:0 -
Didn't you use chip and pin to withdraw?0

You wanted some of your money, the bank gave it to you. Where is the fraud?0

I would remember if I had signed something. I am 100% certain I did not sign anything. I did not even get a receipt of acknowledgement. I basically walked into the branch handed over my card and asked to withdraw money. She took my card then gave me the money with my card and that was it. No questions asked. So I am accusing them of using my signature fraudulently. Yes I was given the correct money but for the bank to panic and then decide to fake my signature when I complained just so they don't get wrong is an absolute disgrace and very worrying! Banks are meant to be alert to fraud and theft. It is not good to know that basically if I lost my card or it was stolen any woman could basically walk into a branch and withdraw money from my account and my bank wouldn't bat an eyelid.0

I think most of you are missing the point. Yes I wanted some money and yes they gave me it but to just hand it over without asking for any form of identification and then when I log a complaint they then lie and say I signed an acknowledgement slip when I wasn't even given one is a disgrace and huge breach of security. It is not reassuring to know that basically anyone could walk into my bank branch and withdraw money from my account. I didn't use a chip and pin to withdraw, it was just handed over. I have demanded to see a copy of this signature.0

"Anyone" would need to have your debit card for starters. Normally you would be asked to use your PIN, but if for some reason the card reader isn't working, withdrawal with signature is an alternative.
The bank will have CCTV recording of your withdrawal so if they have breached their own security procedures it will all be on film. You are right to ask for a copy of the signature slip if you can't remember signing one. Best ask calmly, rather than "demand". Once you have the slip, you can decide your next steps.0 -

could you explain how "anyone" could walk into your bank and withdraw money from your account?
most banks require you to insert your card into a terminal now which then requires a pin. Maybe i am missing something but.............................0 -
I think you might have forgotten.
When you get to the cashier, they get you to put your card in the reader and you put your pin number in. Then they give you money.0
