Oh I'm a bad person but this is on my mind and I can't say anything to anyone so here it is.
I am jealous of some of the things some friends not in work have and can afford when I can't.
I wrote out the what and the why and then blanked it to keep all parties anonymous.
So now after much procrastination I'm going to try to fix my own finances which seem to be in chaos again and stop hankering I ever I can't have.
Sazzie, I used to be able to 'afford' nice things....I still have many of those nice things (the meals out are gone, but not forgotten). However, I am paying for those nice things now and for the foreseeable future:(
We all have glum days but we soon move past them and smile again. You, in particular, are very good at dusting off your troubles and thinking of others. Take care :beer:DFW Nerd No. 1484 LBM 07/01/15 Debt was £95k  Now debt free and happy :j0 -
OMG in shock ! Had a letter last week saying work had messed up on increments, I knew i'd missed one when I was off last year but I hadn't the strength to make a fuss so I just let it go. The letter said they were paying it as back pay...not really thought about how much it might be with tax and pension etc maybe extra couple of hundred..plan to save for dentist (bust another filling), perhaps buy a new loo seat, can't even think what I'd thought about but saving as much as spending (I am a changed person :-))
Anyway just checked and received an extra £2400 in my bank - haven't had the payslip to see if its real or not yet - still shaking, i thought it must be an overdrawn figure at first as i never have that much money in the account.
Not going to make big plans as I suspect I'll lose alot of my usual wages next month in tax and deductions, but its very nice to see it there for now.
Strangely my horoscope, by the late Mr Cainer, had said i would get a windfall, i dismissed it as I'd had a little win on the football dream thingy, gosh still can't believe it.
BTW not posted here much lately as seem to be struggling with keeping up with stuff at home and work with uni work to do as well.
Feel perhaps I am being helped from the other side as been saying i felt alone with a couple of problems, and felt like life was giving me a tough break. Thank you, I hope you realise how grateful I am, for the money as well as the fact I have somewhere to live, maybe untidy and in need of redecoration, but its warm, dry and not likely to fall down, I'm grateful I have a car that gets me about, may be old and have some dints but its a nice car, its mainly dry and warm, needs a little titivating but i love it really. I'm also grateful I have this job which not only pays me enough to live on and a bit towards my debts but is a job i enjoy. I have alot to be grateful for.Debt -it's a fight that I'm winning, dealing with debt one day at a time.

Well , I posted on the DMP page about hiring a van on a DMP and thought I'd update what happened on here as it's not really DMP related.
No problem hiring the van from at least 2 of the main players, yellow logo and green logo. Reasonable price too, only snag is they need several hundred pounds deposit at hiring, depending on vehicle type can be £500.
This would be refunded on return (+ up to 5 days to hit account:-() u which is ok at the start of the month when I have my shopping money etc but more of a challenge at the end of the month. It all went ok though as I used some of the emergency fund to transfer to the current account and then they took the payment on the debit card.
Unfortunately there was a hitch with the move due to a different debtor issue. The student who was moving needed a guarantor, and granny was fine to do this as she's done it before with previous addresses, but this company wanted a guarantor, employed, a home owner and credit worthy.
This is a bit of a problem for folk from poorer families, granny does own home but is on a not fantastic pension though her credit is good. Anyway suffice to say it's been a problem with at we didn't expect and the hire was cancelled. Part 2 of that is that I'm not sure I'll get any of the money back as the student didn't actually ask me to get the van and even if granny pays me back, I'd bought extra protection for the £1500 excess - down to £500. Lesson learned fingers burned I guess, just trying to do someone a favour. Still I got a day off I didn't expect so that's good.
Had a day trying to sort stuff at home, I realise now how difficult I've been finding life, literally going to work, getting home, having tea then bed. Doesn't leave much time for practical stuff never mind fun, but I am surviving and it is getting better. Struggling with the study hasn't helped, and I've a tough couple of months to go, but I'm just going to bite the bullet as they say, keep my head down and hope for the best.
As ever I'm grateful I have a house, a job, a car and my beloved budgies who keep me entertained.
Thanks for reading and hope this helps someone. SazDebt -it's a fight that I'm winning, dealing with debt one day at a time.

Dear diary
Well that's 4 weeks that could have gone better.
Everything seemed to be going well, then I had my exam which I found really, really tough ( and failed), had an interview which I completely fluffed, you know when you hear yourself talking and thinking to yourself SHUT UP YOU IDIOT ...that sort of fluffed, so I didn't get the job. Add to this, breaking a crown, which I've had refitted, but it's not quite right, however dentist says best to try to live with it, had to replace the halogen oven, my house insurance is up by 30% and got a stomach bug, and a hormonal blip (it's my age) so it's 4 weeks of my life I've not really enjoyed a great deal.
Felt enough of an idiot after fluffing the interview, failing the exam just sealed the deal really. Lots of pity looks from people at work, doh, sighs.
However trying to think positive, I know more about my subject than I did, I get the opportunity to resit, I got a decent price for the new halogen, recovered from the bug, it was a quick and painless and cheap dental fix, I've changed the central heating timer myself really cheaply and at least I have a house to insure.
I was just reading through a post from last November that talks about being cold and having the threat of no overtime in the new year, and here we are again, same old stuff....cold but better prepared and paying less for gas and electric, this time though I think the overtime really will be limited as work have changed the recruitment strategies. See how long it lasts, but it is an extra worry and more pressure to pass this exam. Even though I love what I do, I'd really like to run away, unfortunately unless I can upgrade my skills I'm very stuck, so onwards and upwards.
Find it really difficult to talk to people, being able to post here is a blessing.
On the debt front, still plodding away, DFD still 2028 but hopefully less as mortgage free date gets closer.

It's been a tough start to 2017, with the person I've been closest to for some year passing away. She was like a mum to me for the last few years.
Her family is an interesting blend and I think some will be surprised that I'm an executor to her will (with another relative) , and much to my shock, embarrassment, and in some ways annoyance , she has left me a small share of the money. Annoyed because I don't want anyone to think I was her friend for what I could get, it was because we got on, and spent time pottering about doing not a lot 'hanging out' if we were 50 years younger.
However it might help resolve my car predicament. The car is 15 years old and did pass its mot. But I told them not to spend money on it as I know it's going to be expensive. My plan Awas to look at the work lease scheme as I've a friend on a DMP who got accepted, but when I looked it seemed a lot to pay for a much lower power car which won't be mine at the end. Anyway when all is done with this estate I might have enough to look at getting another car in some way. Meantime I'll plan to do some work on this one bit later in the year.
Totally separate, I haven't paid this years timeshare payment. I meant to, but circumstancs tripped me up, and now I'm just seeing how long I can go before anything happens. I might have actually been able to use it this year as I could probably afford the air-fare but not sure who'd I go with. But now I'm just intrigued to see what will happen f I don't pay. The money is sitting in my account.
