I've got another appointment coming up. I'm 45 and the past couple of years have been hell!! Flooding agonising stomach cramps, painful headache, cloudy head so I can't focus or string a coherent sentence together. I had a scan for fibroids but non there, was given that trans.... Medication but it really upset my tummy so had twice the reason for running to the toilet! She has suggested the coil but I too was sterilised because I had enough hormones being put in my body so it's not a route I wish to go down. My mum and Auntie both had a hysterectomy in their 30's and my younger cousin living in NZ has just had ablation and it's the route I am hoping to go down. Through my teens, 20's and 30's, periods fairly light, small amount of back pain and shirt and regular, now it's hell!:rotfl: l love this site!! :rotfl:0

I've been taking Agnus Castus and Evening Primrose oil for about the past four months and have really noticed a change for the better each month I still get cramps but they are much less severe, I also used to suffer with bloating which has pretty much stopped.Worrying won't stop bad stuff from happening, it just stops you from enjoying the good.0

These look fantastic! Thanks for posting aggypanthus. I'd never heard of such a product and have just ordered some for my DD who leaks every month even wearing nighttime pads all day. They look so pretty too!0 -
see your doctor - to ask for a referral to a gynaecologist . They are the experts and your symptoms are a little vague.............? it could be anything from start of menopause to, well, anything!
I had something similar and suffered for years and years from it - my doc had various 'reasons' and 'cures', you will be better when you have a baby, you should stop smoking, have another baby - that will sort it out, go on the pill, early menopause...................I heard them all! it was none of those - it was endometriosis. diagnosed very quickly by the gynaecologist I insisted on a referral to. a thermal ablation sorted it all out - jeez it has been fantastic not to suffer EVERY single month for a week! its been over 13 years now and I have absolutely no idea if I have had the menopause or not! no other symptoms you see - but at 60 I should think I have.
Whatever is the cause I sympathise with you and hope you get it sorted out quickly!0 -
I started bleeding heavily at around 48 and thought it was just 'one of those things', linked to the menopause. After putting up with it for 6 months, and also feeling somewhat bloated I went to the doctor and he diagnosed a fibroid.
So - go to the doctor. It may just be 'one of those things', or it may be something else.No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...0 -

Hi - yes I wouldn't be surprised if it's the beginning of menopause. I have had episodes of flooding for 6+ years now but it is getting worse. It's just beginning to really bother me now. Last month my period fell over a weekend but if it hadn't, I'd have struggled at work because it was so heavy. I don't want to make people feel squeamish by saying this but it's not just a heavy flow but blood clots.0 -
Another nod to this - taking away the worry of heavy bleeding is such a relief.
This is the worst thing. I was in a meeting once at work and realised I'd leaked through my clothes and onto the chair. Fortunately it was all women there and everyone was understanding. Last month I was on my way to work after attending my son's award assembly. I was wearing white trousers with a longish top fortunately as I suffered more flooding and had to stop mid journey and buy new underwear and a pair if trousers! I can't have time off for this every month. :eek:0 -

I don't get a bad headache every month but if I do it is really bad. Today's went after having a long, hot shower and after taking double painkillers. The headache comes once I have a show. It takes a couple of days for my period to start properly. I expect tomorrow or Monday to be the heavy bleeding days.0 -

oystercatcher wrote: »Definitely see your Dr. this isn't normal (although many suffer like this) . Mirena coil may help. If not, what worked for me was endometrial ablation.
If anyone argues this is medical and not moneysaving I disagree, using a pack of pads and a pack of tampons in a day is very expensive !! So is missing work !
Tena pants are handy for 'special occaisions' to avoid those leaks . Awful but at least you can stop worrying.
It is a very expensive business Oystercatcher. I used to have one heavy day a month but now it's two. I find Tampax Pearl Super and a heavy duty towel such as Tena to be the best but even then I'm having to change every hour during the heaviest flow. I know this can't be right. I'm hoping my GP will offer a solution. I find myself hoping for the menopause.0
