How would you share a mega-lottery win

They should at least point you in the right direction of what help to seek... For most huge life events you get counselling (its a legal requirement of my IVF for example) that you'd think they could at least give you some leaflets!0

It's funny, I don't gamble on anything but my mum plays the lottery and insists on me checking all her tickets every 3 or 4 months (she never checks them herself).
She tells me to just keep any minor prizes (I spend the money on her if that happens) and if she gets the jackpot we'll split it among the family.''He who takes no offence at anyone either on account of their faults, or on account of his own suspicious thoughts, has knowledge of God and of things devine.''0 -
Also I read once that if you don't have the publicity they hold back their free financial and legal aid how true that is I'm not sure. Most people wouldn't know where to start with all that so probably panic and agree so they keep the aid
If that's true that's a shocking bribe by Camelot to force people to go public, I've never been more inclined to buy a ticket after seeing photos of champagne corks being popped, the publicised jackpot sum is usually enough!
Having said that although I wouldn't like it, I'm wondering if it would be easier to go public, rather than being subject to rumours and possible stress of keeping under wraps - as mentioned above its a bit obvious if you usually drive a banger then turn up one day in a Bugatti!0 -
I wouldn't have an issue with friends and family knowing, I just wouldn't want to be plastered all over the national press.
Then again I wouldn't have an issue telling Camelot where to stick their guidance. I wouldn't need help in spending such a jackpot.0 -

Trouble is, at least one of your friends and family will sell the information that you are the big lottery winner to the press so you wouldn't be able to keep it out of the papers.0 -
Me and OH often have these kinds of 'fantasy' conversations
We have always said if we won MEGA we would never disclose to anyone else how much we had won - not even family.
We would pay off our mortgage and make sure all mine and husbands families were mortgage free, invest in a business and maybe a couple of buy to let houses for a steady income/pension, a nice holiday - like a once in lifetime cruise - then we would give everything else to charity - everything.
We wouldn't want to sit with mega fortunes in the bank whilst others in the world are going to bed hungry - I think we would get a lot of happiness helping othersThe opposite of what you know...is also true0 -
First step is give up my job, and start something I would enjoy better!
I wouldn't make any rash decisions - would pay off the mortgage as soon as I get the money but all other decisions can wait.
I would take family and close friends on a cruise - all expenses paid.
I would go on a round the world 3 - 6 month cruise with hubby
Then come home - and face reality!
Firstly - buy some land and build a house
2nd - check if the parents still want a new house, if they don't - get it redecorated for them, and buy them a new car (Nothing too fancy though - maybe a polo or Golf)
3rd - give the brother enough money for a 50% deposit on a house - not paying it outright as he is useless with money and it wouldn't help in the long run!
4th - give a few close friends a few years salary - so they can take some time to chill out!
That's probably barely 1m away, so invest half the remainder, live of the interest/income and then give the rest to a few charities close to my heart.
Another possibility is set up some sort of charity and spend my time running itWeight loss challenge, lose 15lb in 6 weeks before Christmas.0 -
First job as with many of the folks here would be a good sized patch of land to build a reasonable sized house. Nothing big and fancy though as I don't see the point. I'd want it to be as eco friendly and self sustaining as possible too.
Then the garage & workshop. Enough for half a dozen cars, lifts etc. It would probably be bigger than the house.:rotfl:I doubt I'd sell my current 2 cars, just resore/finish them and add a couple of unusual classics to the collection (RA28 Celica and KPGC10 Skyline).
Publicity, no thanks.
Sharing, hell yeah, my close friends and family would all benefit from it.
As to the rest, if I didn't need to work I'd start doing all the courses I've wanted to do (there are many). Get my RYA skippers licence, do the MSA racing licences and start privateering in the smaller race series out there.0 -

I wouldn't want to go public as i have mental health issues and that kind of attention would probably exhuberate them, shocking they potentially force people into the publicityThis is a system account and does not represent a real person.
