Send a copy of the letter to your local Trading Standards Officer, he/she will know whether it breaks the law or not.

Hi this is my first post and I've been looking through for advice on my euro carpark fine. I appealed as there was no signage anywhere close to the child parking bays where I was parked with my 1 and 3 year old and I was only 18 minutes late. They rejected my appeal and I refused to pay. I have now received a bailiff letter saying I need to pay £135. Is this enforceable or even legal what should I do?
As ever, this is covered in the sticky thread at the top of this parking forum - which is why I wrote it. Sadly, last year it got silly as we could not keep up with all the ''help I have got a private parking ticket, what do I do?'' threads so I wrote a sticky thread BEGGING newbies to 'read these FAQS first'. It's one click away from ANY thread to get back to the first page of the forum. My signature below tells you where to click and so does Dee140157's signature, just 3 posts above yours...

  • I saved £100 by following your advice and template letter.

I was given a parking ticket by a car park next to Temple Meads, Bristol when I paid parking fee via text and only realised after coming back and re-reading that parking confirmation message that it has applied it to my old car which was scrapped a year ago.

I apealed to the parking company that I had paid but it looks like system has applied the parking fee to my old car hence they have not lost any income hence charges should be dropped. They declined.

I challenged it with POPLA and after 1.5 month POPLA has agreed with my apeal and asked the car park to withdraw the notice. Key point was that car park company were unable to provide details of why they have lost income or incurred any demages.

    I am really pleased.

  • Yesterday I returned to my car to find a parking ticket had being slapped onto my window. It was in an Excel parking lot in Middlesbrough. Its free to park there if you're using the leisure park. I was filmed leaving the car park and they slapped me with this £60 fine (£100 if not paid in 14 days) I did leave this car park but only to go to a cash point, I came back and used the facilities on the park and was back well in the time allowed (4 hours)
I don't know what to do, a lot of people have said ignore any letters as they can't do a lot. I've appealed tickets before and they've come back and said pay a reduced amount but I'm sick to death of these companies demanding ridiculous amounts!! Wish I'd kept my receipt from Nandos as proof I was actually there.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated :)

How about reading the sticky threads (NEWBIES thread of FAQs in particular). Use the Forum Jump (bottom right & click 'GO') to get to page one and off this 'discussion of an article' thread which was not the right place to post. There's a whole forum here, very busy & updated every day, with a NEWBIES thread at the top telling you EXACTLY what to do, template appeal, the lot.

  • Be careful Parking eye have just taken me to court a £1.00 parking charge turned into a £200.00 fine. The judge was not interested in any of my arguments as per your web site, he just said should have read the notice on the car park. Totally unfair.

  • My POPLA Appeal has been rejected and they say I should now pay the £100 but I know there is a camera shot of me paying at that machine. What shall I do?

For a start, you create your own thread. That way you will get personal attention.
