Did you reduce the the overall length?
I can go with a retention product, but they will calculate it over my initial term and adjust the monthly to take account of the OPs already made. If I did that a few times I'd end up with a tiny standard payment and would quickly hit the 10% OP limit.
MCInitial mortgage (Dec 2012) £108,000 3.84%APR MF date Jan 2038
Mortgage remaining £68285
Daily interest £4.28

No I kept it the same. However, as they only deal in whole years and I am mid way through my 'mortgage year'...I think it will shorten by around 4 months anyway. I may consider changing the term next time (will see what happens in the meantime!)0

Fantastic new rate on your mortgage, BW. :money: Chicken rogan josh sounds yummy! Sorry to hear that work is still a bit bleugh.
But you seem a bit happier within yourself which is good.
I've just sorted my Mothers Day gift - a Y@nkee Candle reed diffuser from Am@zon. My Mum loves them and there's nothing else she wants so I know it will be appreciated.
Have a good week.

Thanks MG
Yes definitely feeling a bit brighter about things...just hope it lasts
Well done on sorting your Mothers Day gift... I'm still pondering for mine....
Today was very Mondayish...I'm pleased to be home.
PC survey completed and £3.13 cashback requested from Q. Little else to report today

Good evening
Work was ok today. Managed to get away a bit early which meant a relatively painless commute home which is always nice
I've had a productive hour or so since I got in. I've set up my new router which I've received from my provider. It was actually pretty straightforward and I'm pleasantly surprised that everything is working ok. I am getting an extra 30MB of broadband speed and saving myself £8.99 a month into the bargain  I've also changed my tariff with my phone provider (it's a SIM only deal again) and saved myself £3.86 a month. Not a massive saving but better my money than theirs! I get the same message/minute allowance and I got an extra 1GB of data too :T
£3 PC reward claimed
Still need to get cracking on some other surveys as motivation is definitely lacking of late.0 -
Good evening
Feels like it's been a looong week. I was shattered last night and ended up crashing out early. Feel better today after a good night's sleep
I have a confession to make... I've bought a new car... well ordered one...as I have to wait for it to be made. I know it's not very MSE but it's on 0% finance at least... and I'm very excited to have picked something that I wanted - rather than had to 'make do' with. I have also decided that since I work FT, I deserve a treat
Been a less satisfying day on the OP front as I noticed today that my balance online doesn't match my own records (normally does). I called the bank and they said that the OP I sent earlier this week (and was previously showing against the mortgage), has gone out again. Obviously I can't take money from the mortgage and so they said the bank has 'taken it back'. A check of the bank account in question didn't indicate that and so another phone call was made. The second bank said they haven't taken it back and gave me a reference. I therefore had to call back to the mortgage holding bank...only to be told they can't look into it til Monday  Good job I am due to leave this bank as this is the second problem in as many months.
I've been having a catch up on surveys today and hoping to get near to cash-out on a couple soon-ish. May keep any payments for the next month until the new mortgage is fully sorted as don't want to confuse matters.

Go for it Bookworm (the new car that is!). I bought one in December - first time ever for me having brand new one and I love it! Still get a kick when I drive it.
Also think some of the costs are off set - no MOT for 3 years, lower repair costs etc.
And as you say you work full time so why not have a treat!0 -
Thanks Pushkin
I've been struggling with whether to or not for a few weeks but when I finally decided to go for it, it felt right and so I'm happy with my decision.

A well deserved treat! We are also debating a newish car and have even looked into lease cars. 0% deal on a new car sounds fab though! Enjoy, you work hard for it.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0

Thanks Cath
I've been having a quiet day today - just working through house jobs with a couple of garden ones thrown in for good measure. I did pop out to get a couple of odds and ends but only used vouchers not cash so doesn't feel like proper spending
I've ordered some more LED bulbs... this time for the sitting room and bathroom. These rooms both get a fair bit of use and so should notice a difference. The bathroom currently doesn't have low energy bulbs so that will be another improvement on the energy savings. The sitting room does but they are not LED and one or two seem to be dimming so think they are on the way out.
Currently relaxing on the sofa with a :coffee: and having a mooch round the boards0
