You are so disciplined with your OP's bookworm. Sorry things been a bit stressful of late. Hope the car is straightforward, inexpensive repair.

  • Pleased to hear that you're feeling a bit more settled within yourself regarding the work situation BW. Sorry to hear about your car, I hope it's nothing too expensive. Have the garage given you any indication of what it could be?

    Good Morning

Thanks Hiddenshadow, kittenkirst, CathT and MG :)

MG - not yet. Although I dropped it off yesterday, the garage won't be looking at it til Monday.

It's finally stopped raining here. I'm hoping it stays that way as I'd really like to get out for a walk later on. Feeling a bit stir crazy after being in the house. Also keep thinking of things to do, and then realising I can't without the car :o (or at least not easily) Spent yesterday pottering around at home, doing surveys, watching movies and reading.

I have halogen bulb lights in the kitchen (they were here when I moved in) and one went pop this week. I need to find out what kind it is so I can look for a replacement. Does anyone know if it's possible to replace them with LED versions? I need to do some research I think

Lightbulb research done and replacements ordered. I even managed to use some gift vouchers for them so very MSE :money:
I did get out for a walk and 10 minutes after I got back it started to rain...so feeling very pleased that I managed to time that right!

Currently sitting on the sofa with a G&T ... since I can't drive...I may as well make the most of it :D

I've started to replace mine with LED's as they've gone pop. I've head that mixing halogens and LED's in one light fitting can make them blow, not sure how true it is as I was down to my last working bulb out of 3! :rotfl::rotfl:

    Evening :)

Well the car is back. It's had a temp fix. The permanent repair was several hundred pounds and so have decided not to proceed for now. Instead, I'm going to consider whether the money would be better put towards a new car instead. But at least I am mobile again

My LED bulbs have also arrived. They are fab. There are 8 in my kitchen so I've gone from 200 watts if they were all on  (rarely but possible) to 40w :T That should help with the electric bill!

Had to verbally kick my BB/TV providers butt this evening. I called them last month to change my bank details. They took the new info and I had a letter arrive to confirm a couple of days later so thought all was ok. My bill date came and went (2nd of the month) and they didn't take the money. I figured it may have missed the dd and they would collect next month. Bill arrived today and I was charged £10 for a late payment  Needless to say I asked them to remove it since it was their fault for not taking the payment. Turns out the person I spoke to last time, should have told me that would happen and that I should settle payment myself. I just hope they don't do the same to other people! Anyways, I spoke to a lovely man this evening who happily amended the bill for me.

Sadly no OP news to report.
Surveys are ticking along but frustratingly between cash out levels on nearly all of them.

    Friday tomorrow.... :T

  • Glad the car's back in shape! :)

We've had to chase up DDs ourselves - very annoying when it would be super simple to just say "due to timing, please manually make the payment this month of XX" rather than not processing the DD and then charging you for it as if it's your fault. On the plus side since our DDs are changing due to a bank switch, we've gotten £15.43 out of the new bank for the hassle of paying fees (not that we have as they've all been refunded :)).

Weekend cannot come soon enough. Coming down with another cold, today was torture.
