:j It's the weekend... I luvs weekends
Had a nice relaxed evening chatting with a friend and watching tv followed by a lovely lie in this morning (simple pleasures)
I received some money for my birthday and I'm pondering treating myself to some new boots with it. It's been ages since I bought any new footwear and it's not often I see something I like.
Paper voucher has arrived this morning so have added that to my stash. Still waiting on the e-voucher.
£2.39 OP made (cashback)
I need to make a decision this weekend on my car insurance...and I am still looking into mortgage deals (though I will probably not do anything further on that til next month now)
Finally, an update on my aunt is that she is doing well. She's been transferred back to her local hospital (had been at another specialist place for the op) and so hopefully won't be too much longer until she can go home
Have a super Saturday

I'm pleased to hear that your aunt is on the mend.

Morning
A grey and dreary day here. But at least it's dry
I've sorted my car insurance this morning. Put it on the credit card but will be paid off next month in full. The challenge will be not to use the cc any more over the next month
I did also decide to purchase the new boots I mentioned. Annoyingly, after I had placed the order, I received an email from them welcoming me and with a 10% off code for my first order . I have sent a very polite email to explain the timing was of no use and ask whether they would be willing to consider crediting the same amount back to my card? Figured it was worth an ask - they can only say no!
Few surveys done yesterday - no cashouts reached but points/totals are all ticking along.
I have also requested a £4.34 payout from TCB this morning.
House jobs to do today as only did a few yesterday. Also trying to keep myself busy and not think about work. Things are still very strange following the takeoverand I think will be for a while.
I've been a bit slack on the food front since new yearand need to get back to being good. That will be my mini challenge for the next few months.

Thanks Cath.
Relatively relaxed. Chores done and out the way early.
I've been happily hunting for a place to hang my new picture. I received a beautiful piece of art at Xmas and it has been away at the framers. They really did a wonderful job and it looks fab. I've moved some other pictures around and have found the ideal spot. Very happy
Just been doing battle with a butternut squash....I love them but why do they have to be such tricky blighters to peel or chop? :rotfl: If anyone has any tips for them... please let me know! Anyway... I eventually won and it's now roasting in the oven with a herby salt mix and some paprika. I'm going to make a risotto with it later. (I seem to have a bit of an addiction to risotto of late)0 -
Glad you had a good weekend. It is annoying when you get money off vouchers with your receipt just after you have done your shopping! You don't need it then!Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D0 -
The trick I've always used is to microwave it before peeling. Details here: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/11/17/how-to-peel-butternut-squash_n_6159590.html0
