I'm imagining what the Guard said, because the OP doesn't say. Clearly s/he said *something* to engage with the OP which led to the OP going to a back room so they could be banned.

I'm no expert, but I imagine (again) that the banning process involves taking a name, ID and possibly a photograph. That's asking quite a lot from someone under no legal obligation to be there.

So you have made things up? Now you move on to photo ID...where does your imagination end?

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/taken has 107 entries spread across Noun, Verb (with object) and Verb (without object). (Not including verb phrases). Eewahwoowah's selection is number 3 in that list. ;)

I refer you to post #355.

I'm now having to put your posts on hide away so that I no longer have to see them.

There are many more that apply that don't involve force...despite your imagination.

    Crikey!!

Another one who skipped english at school!!

  • No need to teach me law, I have a good understanding of it thank you.

    :D

    Genuine wager!

I'll bet my house you do not have a career in the legal profession.

    Am I right?:D
  • OH MY GIDDY AUNT!

You really are being serious aren't you?

Taking your wife to the shops is a very different scenario to being taken to a backroom by a security guard who believes you to be a thief.

The word "taken," as a verb, has a particular meaning for a particular situation. Which is why there are 100 odd differing meanings for the word.

At primary school my teacher would have said something like this-

1 Shopping with wife - good.

2 Taken to backroom by security guard on suspicion of theft- bad.

I'm sorry but, is this a wind up?

Both mean exactly the same thing though. Only in your mind to fit your argument are you making them have different meanings.

I was taken shopping by my husband.
I was taken to the back room by the security guard.

The fact your resulting to snide remarks, petty insults and the specific meaning of a word says an awful lot about your lack of argument.

Depends on your definition of "legal profession" you're going to use ;)

I'll make it as wide as possible.

As in, anything to do with the law.;)

In which case that's a yes. Keep your house, ones enough for me.
  • Changing the situation yet again.

Strangely though I agree - If the OP went to the CS desk and said "Ive found this receipt, can I have the points added to my clubcard" - then it would not be fraud by misrepresentation.

However, with the lack of details posted by the OP, if he tried to pass the points off as his own, which I think is more likely the case here, I stick to my original post.

Errr, criminal convictions are not achieved by the reasoning of "I think it is more likely."

Thinking of a forum name change yet?:D

There was no criminal conviction, so not sure what your point is. He was simply banned from Tesco.
