Debt has ended my relationship :(

Yeah I am on supply and finding it hard like everyone else. No new jobs to apply for and local authority being vicious with supply. I know I should have looked for work but it was a really hard year in the school I was working in and by the end of June I just needed my holiday!
I am hoping for a full time contract for a year as my local authority have just started handing these out to people with more employment rights than me. If I was to quit I would lose the 2 days of guaranteed work I have through employment rights. I will ring the personell department tomorrow and ask when I am likely to find out where I am going.
I'd stick with your two days and find a part time job for the other 5 days until this is sorted.
I've been there, done that, and supply work in itself is stressful enough without adding to the worry of paying back debt.
Good luck

San1 - are you primary or secondary? If secondary, can you do exam marking? It is over for this year but would help next year and many exam boards are taking applications now. Some (but very few) qualifications still have January exams (BTEC's). Although if you are back to school next week I am guessing you are Scotland, so it might be different there.LBM:1/1/12Debts @ LBM:£43,546  Debts now: £9,486  78% PAIDFound YNAB 1/2/14 - the best thing EVER!0

Definitely return the outfit. You can then give your oh the money to show your commitment. When you need to give them 300+ for this month and can raise 170 it has to be done. I am sure they will feel better too, having the money instead of seeing you at the wedding in new clothes.
Definitely look at what you can sell to help ease the strain on your oh and clear your debts a bit.
Hopefully that will improve the environment at home and give you more support. You'll also feel better add you start getting the debt down.

I am Secondary PE. I do not meet criteria to mark for SQA as have not taught certificate classes as of yet. Yeah I am in Scotland.0 -

I am going to take it all back this afternoon and thankfully three of the four items were paid in cash!0 -

Unfortunately, and it's not nice to hear, there aren't the PE jobs to sustain the number of graduates, and it gets harder and harder to get that full-time permanent job each year as the new probationers finish. Many of the PE teachers I know have bitten the bullet, accepted that they're not going to become full-time permanent teachers, and went into employment elsewhere to pay the bills.
Perhaps it's time you thought the same, if you don't have the money coming in to pay your commitments."Facism arrives as your friend. It will restore your honour, make you feel proud, protect your house, give you a job, clean up the neighbourhood, remind you of how great you once were, clear out the venal and the corrupt, remove anything you feel is unlike you... [it] doesn't walk in saying, "our programme means militias, mass imprisonments, transportations, war and persecution."0 -
I graduated as secondary (maths) in Scotland a few years ago. I know loads of PE teachers in your position.

Thanks Gaz, in the department I was in for most of last year, three of the staff had achieved permanent posts through employment rights. The other three were in their 40s. PE is a tough one to get a job in. But I love my job so much.0 -
What about working for a local gym? Or for the local authority swimming baths? ( must admit PE is definitely not my area of expertise)0
