  • We're starting to get things sorted to get the ball rolling on the house now. OH is going to deal with most of the financial/mortgagey things because he understands them a bit more than I do. He does explain to me the things that are going on but I anticipate they'll get far more complicated before they make complete sense to me!! So we're on a proper tightening of the purse strings now! A letter from my dad has been written about the deposit, all but my first payslip (which I won't get until next week) have been sent to the mortgage broker and to keep me totally involved OH has tasked me with writing lists! Now I just need to work out what will have to be on each list!!

    Today has been spendy but only because we're having a fuddle at lunchtime tomorrow, so I took the opportunity to get drinks for camp at the weekend (Pepsi on half price) and some soup. I've also put money into a collection at work. But that should be it for spending now until Friday (which will only be because I won't have time to sit down for tea!)

  • YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!! Congrats on the igloo news!!! Your own snug little igloo for the winter. Fabby news OH, smooth negotiating skills there!!

    Lists are good. A list of all the things you have, firstly. All the things you don't have but NEED. Another list of those you don't need but WANT. And so on. ;) I read today it costs approx £8000 to set up a new home :eek: furniture etc!!!

    :snow_grinFantastic igloo news (snowman in lieu of igloo!)

    Start with a list headings and work from there (or use the teacher's favourite... A mind map :) ). Maybe work on a room-by-room basis as to what you will need to do, what questions you need to ask and what you will need to buy etc.

    Questions like;
    1. When was the boiler last serviced?
    2. Is there an instruction manual for working the boiler (setting temp and time)?

    A list of companies to notify about your change of address.
    A list of suppliers to research (electricity, phone etc).

    The 'job of lists' is highly skilled!!

  • I have already created (handwritten) sheets with headings Nintud I didn't do a questions to ask one though. Will create that tomorrow!

    Fortunately we have lots of things we can use for now and table and chairs offered by OH's mum. The most necessary thing will be a bed!

  • My list of questions to ask is growing! Today's questions...what do I put in which bin? and when is bin day? All because I was walking past a long row of wheelie bins awaiting emptying on my way to work this morning. I think this list may end up at least the length of my arm!

  • Penguins, google your local council for the area you are moving to. And they should show bin collection dates and number of bins etc on the website. If not, you can call them and ask them to send a card out to the new address showing the timetable!

    Enjoy the cubs weekend! Madness...

  • The weekend was crazy and I'm struggling to keep going this week. I had 2 cubs sick in the night so got very little sleep all weekend (not that i thought I'd get loads anyway!). On Monday night I was asleep before tea and then did nothing after. Yesterday we met with the mortgage advisor and signed on the dotted line. The application has gone in today and we're now playing a waiting game! But right now I must sleep!!

  • Oh that sounds like a manic weekend. I struggle with one kid, let alone dozens! Hope you have recovered after this weekend!

    Any news on the mortgage?!
