A little penguin's ramblings!

First time I read your comment I misread it, Lilt! Could not for the life of me work out why there were selling pUppies at the TofL!
I slept better than I thought I would last night and have had a pretty good first day with children in school. A very quiet morning with only 5 children. Followed by an afternoon of 14.
I'm trying to retrain my body clock and get into a decent sleep routine as I know it won't take long for me to decide an extra half hour in bed then rushing around is better than having a nice chilled start to the day with breakfast and a cuppa! This includes weekends! So I think my body might fight it to start with. But I have been settling easier using a book rather than tv (I went through a phase of not being able to sleep without background noise following a culmination of events and it became a bit of a habit to have the TV on) so I'm hoping that will help!
I've been trying out my culinary skills today! Making a rice salad for lunches for the rest of the week. I failed! The salad bits look lovely, the rice is a soggy mess! I'm not a terrible cook, but pasta and rice are my nemeses (nemisises? nemesis? I'm not even convinced I'm using the right word now I've puzzled over it!!)
I've tidied my desk and have made a start on the dumping ground that is the floor this evening. This is after spending all summer thinking I need to get on with it, must get it done! I've started making lists in a diary and found it's helpful. I like seeing all the pink highlighter at the end of the day and it helps me to check back and see what I still need to do!
I should stop rambling and get to bed! At the moment I'm just going a bit earlier each night, in the hopes that eventually I'll be having a good 7.5 hours in bed with hopefully nearly that asleep!NSDs January - 3/8 2017 total - 3

I cannot believe how tired I am after just 4 days! (and only 2 with children!) And I've been sleeping better as well. The children have only been in half days as well. The afternoon ones are definitely a lot livelier, probably due to being more confident in the environment and have more English. Tomorrow is the first day they're all in school all day! Yikes!! With it still being the first week there hasn't been a massive amount of work to do outside school so my evening's have been more relaxed compared to last year.
The only problem is that even though I'm getting up earlier and giving myself nearly an hour to get ready on a morning (compared to 20 minutes last year) I still feel like I'm rushing around.
The bid for our new igloo continues. We've now had 2 offers rejected but we kind of expected it. OH is continuing to negotiate so keeping our fingers crossed.
One more day to the weekend!! I'm hoping that once I get into the new routine of school and am strict with myself about going to bed and getting up, my body will soon get used to it!!NSDs January - 3/8 2017 total - 3

I'm with you on the tiredness. One week in school (3 days with pupils) and I'm shattered. My sleep is always disrupted during the first week back. I can't seem to switch my head off. Hopefully this will get better as I fumble my way around my new timetable.
Good luck with the igloo negotiations. Have you got your heart set on this one?MBNA 237.47/13997.47

Oooh good luck with the Igloo. I didn't even bother negotiating on my first house purchase. I just said, stop all the other people coming to see it, immediately, and I will pay what you're asking. In all my infinite 19 year old wisdom....
6 weeks after we moved in, the market crashed. 17% drop in value overnight. Negative equity over my head for years... Never again! I hope your igloo is a beautiful forever home that you get for the right price and reasons!
Hope you're enjoying your Friday night after the squiddlies first day. Did they behave?

Thanks lilt
I'm leaving OH to do the negotiating. I think he was putting in another offer today. See what the vendor says this time!
The children were a bit lively by Friday afternoon but have been better today. We've gone on to proper timetable so it's been a bit more structured for them with less time to run riot! They were still pretty lively by home time, despite a much calmer first bit of the day - they'd clearly woken up by then!
We had a lazy Saturday curled up on the sofa watching films, then yesterday was a mad dash to do the planning. (I wasn't as focused as I'd hoped to be but got there in the end! and it will be easier next week now I know what I'm doing!) More to do tonight though because I needed some info from school!
I should crack on really...see if I can get it done before tea!NSDs January - 3/8 2017 total - 3

Another week gone by already and we're nearly halfway through September!! I can't believe how fast it's gone! I'm slowly settling into the swing of things and after a bit of feedback on my planning I feel I know more about how to improve it now. That's tomorrow's job though!
Today OH is coming over and we're going for a bike ride (yikes!) and doing some baking! He's making chocolate cake for work and I'm making some muffins and flapjack (I tihnk!) as part of my plan to bake once a week (this isn't really starting until we get a house but my parents are away for the weekend so I can have run of the kitchen without being interrupted!)
I may have managed to volunteer myself to lead our Beaver colony at my Scout group. This wasn't really intentional, but would be a new challenge! It was mentioned during a meeting with our GSL last night and I said I wouldn't be able to do Thursdays (when Beavers currently meet), and any other night I would be willing to help out, so we'll have to see what happens. I think I'd enjoy it, would just be a lot of responsibility to take on!
No news on the igloo yet. OH had a call from the estate agents yesterday but he was in a meeting until late, so has to ring back. I'm getting impatient now! The longer the negotiating takes, the longer I'm here at my parents' thinking I really don't want to sort everything out into cupboards/the loft from last year at school just to move it all again in a few weeks but the less I'm liking it cluttering up the floor (in reasonably tidy piles!)
I've managed 2 NSDs this week. Spending a night at OH's always makes things trickier for food meaning I'm likely to be more spendy. (Another reason it will be good to move in together!) Yesterday I convinced myself that 7up was a reasonable substitute for something stronger so avoided spending yesterday, and as we have to shop today I might get something for later (as a reward for cycling!!)
I really should write my shopping list or I'll not have anything I need today and plenty I don't need!NSDs January - 3/8 2017 total - 3

Must be so frustrating just waiting for the Estate Agents and OH to sort it all out. I am a control freak so there would be no leaving it to other people for me! I admire your patience! And living with your parents and all your school clutter... :A lol. P.S most Est Agents near me are in on a Saturday?!

Yay for NSD's. I just can't do it this month
organisation lowest on list of priorities. Money leaking bigtime!
Hope you're ok otherwise and enjoying your weekend

Thanks lilt news may have got more exciting. Vendor has lowered so we're going with one last offer. But otherwise will agree and hopefully the ball will be rolling. OH missed a call from the EState agents because he was driving back from mr A so we're both excitedly waiting until Monday when he can call them back again.
We've had an afternoon of baking and the kitchen smells of apple muffins, bread rolls (a going out of date packet mix!), ginger biscuits and shortbread. And a slightly well done chocolate cake. We abandoned the washing up for Doctor Who which was rather confusing for OH who's only started watching it with me recently!
So all in all quite a domesticated day! I think I've earned a beer

Soounds lovely especially all the baking. My get up and go got up and went today. So I have done the sum of nothing, eaten a shedload of carp food and feel rubbish.
Feel very good about yourself and enjoy that beer. Also eeeeeeeeeeeh for the house!!!!!!!!!

Wallace (and grommet) excited hand waving here too for the igloo update. Hope the vendor accepts final offer. Those paper piles need a forever home!MBNA 237.47/13997.47
