Aww thanks Lilt
bookcases now fit after trip to big Swedish flat pack shop! I was DIY woman while OH went to his old place to be a domestic God before handing his keys back!
I think we might be a bit mad thinking about Christmas but it's a nice way to get everyone round together. Also means OH can drink as he won't have to drive anywhere! Hoping to get loads done today and feel even more organised. I emptied a couple of boxes last night and today I need to get the contents on the new bookshelves! Also having a trip to the range for cheap light shades as bare bulbs are a bit harsh at the moment, the the farm shop for Christmas Day goodies! Think we'll be ready for bed by 8 as also going to run down to Nottingham to pick up a tv stand later on. What a crazy day ahead but it should mean tomorrow an Wednesday are more relaxed with wrapping and baking to be done!!NSDs January - 3/8 2017 total - 3

What matters is how we live and love and how we spend our dash. (L Ellis)0 -
Lilt I'm original from just outside Bradford and now living not far away (10mins drive to my parents') I went to Nottigham Trent uni and lived there for 6 years in total. I loved it but money was tight and I had more job options at home at the time. TV stand is now in place after a nightmare journey (serves us right for stopping at Meadowhall on the way) and a late night
we are definitely bonkers BUT we're both currently sitting in the living room with everything prepared (I have to move shortly to start on making mince pies but that shouldn't take too long!)
we've wrapped, cleaned, made ginger biscuits, unpacked boxes, tidied and put up cards. it's been a stressful couple of days but I think we've survived! Only 2 major ish problems - something in the central heating is broken so it's either on full whack or you have to switch it off completely, and the light on our middle landing won't work :-(
OH's mum will be here fairly soon (sometime before dark) along with her partner and the dog so I Should crack on with mince pies.
Have a wonderful Christmas and I'll be back once we reach the other side!! :xmastree:

Well you survived!!
well done you
WIll be back later but right now the small is locked in her bedroom knocking and shouting hello. Self enforced timeout completed I think and she is bored! Lol. xx

Back again as promised!!
Saw your Christmas table and it looked fantastic. Well done you for the great job you did. I am sure you must need some serious lying down after the entertaining! I have thought that I couldn't cook for the masses if I had people over to dinner. Then I looked at the leftovers from my cooking for 2 and a bit people, and realised I could easily have catered for 4-5 people with just what I did cook
How is it sleeping in your own house. You own the very bricks and mortar surrounding you. What a lovely feeling!!
Have you started thinking of colour schemes and the like yet? How much furniture do you have?

We had a lot of leftovers. There's still some gammon and we have been feasting on bubble and squeak over the weekend. Turkey was finished tonight in a curry. There wouldn't have been quite as much left over if my mum hadn't been ill so barely ate anything..she spent all Boxing Day in bed. Think she's on the mend now though I imagine she went to work today.
Sleeping in our house is great, and our bed is soooo comfy! I'm being really good at not taking iPad or TV shows to bed (not too difficult at the moment as we don't have proer internet yet) so I feel like I'm sleeping a lot better and being better at waking up on a morning!
Not really decided on colour schemes yet. Everything is white/cream at the moment apart from the kitchen. We're doing quite well for furniture having acquired things from OH's mum and her partner who are moving in together and downsizing and people who have said they're selling things they no longer use (huge sofa and TV stand)
I must admit I'm being quite obsessive about cleaning at the moment. I'm hoping that if I obsess a bit now it will be a habit when I go back to work that I'll get a little bit done every day.
Tomorrow is date day - a trip to the cinema (1/3 off ticket prices) and a meal at the pub but in the morning I will be making pizza dough using my new toy

All sounds fabulous hun. I am really chuffed for you. Hope mum gets well soon!! And you get some proper internet sorted. I spend my life in bed with my laptop :rotfl: it is the only place warm!!

Is it really last year that I last dropped in!? Where has the past fortnight gone!? 2 weeks back at school and everything is back to normal! Lots of school work to do, exhausting days and the housework piling up!
OH is doing his best to help out with stuff but I'm a bit possessive of the cleaning and I don't know why...my mum is still in shock that I'm cleaning when I can, and that I'm saving money!
The reason for the saving though is very exciting! We're looking to go to South Africa next year to celebrate my 30th...it's the warmest place I can think of to see penguins in the wild as they live on the beach there. We looked into prices last week thinking it would be way out of our reach, but we found we can spend 10 nights including 3 nights all inclusive on a game reserve for less than half of what we thought :-)
We've had a good blitz of the kitchen, living room and bathrooms today and tomorrow the bedroom and office will look more presentable with any luck!
Tonight though we're having a relaxing evening in front of the TV once I've made teaNSDs January - 3/8 2017 total - 3
