Whoa that is an incredible treat but you deserve it!
Are you saving for the tickets or credit carding it? Not being judgemental just wondering!
How is the house
I know what you mean about being possessive of the housework. I was like it too

The house is good thanks Liltespecially now it's tidy! We have just ordered blinds this evening which OH is paying for very generously

We're saving up for SA I don't have a credit card but I do have savings. Just need to start paying my dad back for his generous loan towards the deposit so I don't feel too guilty about going while still in debt. He knows about the planned trip and knows that it's coming out of savings rather than usual monthly money so he'll still get paid back while we're savingNSDs January - 3/8 2017 total - 3

I'm sorry diary, I've been neglecting you again! Life has taken over and I'm trying desperately to get back on top of things now it's half term! I've got the floor in the living room covered in things from the office to motivate me to get them sorted. I did some of it yesterday but I've still got a box full of school papers and resources to sort. It's a bit of a pile and I know once I start I'll quickly get bored! It's an afternoon job though, no point starting before lunch as I need to clean the kitchen (again!) It's good being on half term as I can do a lot more cooking, but it does mean the kitchen gets in a big mess...Chorizo and noodles yesterday and pancakes for supper to clean up from!
Yesterday a friend posted on FB that the children we took to Anglesey when we were in first year at uni turn 21 this year! That made me feel old as they were the first year 6 kids I ever worked with. It inspired me to make a list - 30 things I want to do before I'm 30! I think it's fairly achievable as nothing is too challenging - except learning to drive!
I'm hoping that after the holidays I'm going to have more productive time at school and spend less time working at home - even though that will probably mean staying later on an evening. But it should mean less time in front of the laptop on a Sunday afternoon!!NSDs January - 3/8 2017 total - 3

I don't know what's wrong with me at the moment. I'm suddenly feeling completely overwhelmed by everything and my plan to be more organised at school really hasn't worked as changes are afoot and the work has suddenly piled up!
My OH is being amazing but there's not much he can do to help with the work stuff. I'm hoping that after this week things will calm down a little but the work never ends! I know this is just a blip but at the moment it seems all-consuming and everytime I've tried to do something nice over the past week it's been overshadowed by the thought of "but this is ...hours I should have been doing work"
We've joined our local gym this week which I'm hoping will help to boost my energy levels and I'm doing more walking by getting off the bus (and on it again) in a different place. I'm hoping that will help to combat how shattered I feel all the time by keeping me more active. We're on a bit of a health kick after a throwaway comment by someone recently. I wasn't offended but it's given me a kick to actually do something!
I've made a list of 30 things to achieve by 30. Nothing too challenging or daft but I'm looking forward to having something to motivate me to do things outside of work. I also need to find something more social to do but not sure what I fancy yet!
That's my ramblings over for now! OH is just finishing off cooking mutton for tea...it had better tasted nice - I nearly lost a finger trying to prepare it this morning!NSDs January - 3/8 2017 total - 3

Hmm.. where did you get mutton from? And what did it taste like? I know it is cheaper but I always think of that 'mutton dressed as lamb' comment and can't help thinking it is granny meat. :rotfl: How did you cook it out of interest?
Yay to the gym. I used to be obsessed.. although not been for a long while now thanks to my disks but I will get there again!! It really gave me a boost but the discipline to go was enormous. If I dared to sit down after I got home from work I wasn't going. So I used to walk home, change without sitting down, walk back out and spend 2-3 hours there 5 nights a week!
How is the house? There has been a lot going on for you recently so don't try to build Rome in a day. Look after you. Start small.. and try and get an extra 15 minutes sleep. I did that last month and it was amazing the difference setting myself a bedtime and going 15 minutes earlier made.
Nice to hear from you!!
xx

Hi Penguin!! I've just had a quick read of your diary & am subscribing!! South Africa sounds amazing!! I'm 30 in a couple of years and me & my best friends (5 of who turn 30 in the same year) are planning to go to Vegas
You only turn 30 once eh?!
Congrats on your new house!! It sounds lovely!! Must be hard finding time to do everything when you work FT as a teacher, I don't know how you do it!! We've lived in our house for just over 9 months now and we've still not done any decorating  As Lilt says though, Rome wasn't built in a day & we're hoping to do our bedroom soon. I'm focusing on the rooms that the kids can't really ruin :rotfl: xxxThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I have to confess that I haven't been to the gym since my induction! In my defence though work has been crazy with assessments and parents evenings and I'd planned to go yesterday but have hurt my shoulder
only 4 more days of work until the Easter holidays so fingers crossed I'll make it there a couple of times in the holidays, even if only for a gentle swim!
The house is finally looking tidy again but no decorating done yet. We have started to finally sort out the spare room which has been a dumping ground since we moved in. we've put a few boards in the loft to get the Christmas things out of the way and bought a narrow wardrobe. Chest of drawers should be delivered tomorrow!
The mutton came from our local(ish) farm shop Lilt it was lovely. Because it was slow cooked it was quite tender and really tasty, though I imagine it could be more chewy if it wasn't cooked as long.
We've been trying to go to bed a bit earlier and I've been getting quite a bit of reading done rather than watching Netf1ix. Now need to work on getting up when the alarm goes off on a morning!
Lots of work to do so I'd better dash!NSDs January - 3/8 2017 total - 3

Ah I need that alarm thing too. I am an avid snoozer even though it makes me feel worse in the end rushing around still exhausted. Would be far better to just get up and head for the coffee machine. :rotfl:
Thanks for the mutton thoughts. I will have to give it a go! Lamb is cheap at the minute, especially at a!d1 currently.

I really need to start typing in a different browser! My iPad keeps freezing and I have to start again! The Easter holidays have been nice and relaxing so far. SIL and I were planning to go to school and sort out our classrooms on Tuesday (first day of the holidays) but ww talked ourselves out of it over lunch!
Our igloo is slowly looking more presentable. I've almost got upstairs sorted over the past day or so which has included sorting clothes and putting a bagful ready for the charity shop and sorting out all my craft stuff which fills a bookshelf! Tomorrow I have to iron, sort the kitchen and living room and begin to pack
OH is away for the weekend. Then I go away on Monday. It's not the first time he's been gone but it's strange him not being here! Never thought I'd miss his snoring though! It has meant an evening of pampering and I'm now curled up watching The BOok Thief though I'm a little disappointed to have overdone the popcorn!NSDs January - 3/8 2017 total - 3
