We have had some serious flash flooding here. Our house is ok but most of our neighbours houses have been badly affected and roads are closed. We have spent yesterday evening and today trying to help in sorting things out for people. As I can't manage much physically I have only been able to help out with phoning around and food and drink for the workers. All my family are completely shattered from sand bag carrying and ditch clearing plus furniture moving. I knew they could be motivated to do something if absolutely necessary! We are all sky watching as it is forecast to come back tonight.

I hope everyone else is safe and dry too.

'Believe me, I am not a force to be reckoned with when I am cross!!!'

On the contrary, pigpen, I think you are a force to be reckoned with!!:D

I've had that 'last day of term complaint' before, and have made the point that they can email me, text me, ring or write. This is a great age for communication, it can't be that difficult to get hold of me!

DS2 has his report today, and has done very, very well, so proud mummy moment here!

And I have cleaned the cloakroom and the bathroom, everything apart from the bit I can't reach without a chair, so I'm here with a clear conscience.:D
Hope everyone has a good weekend, although the weather forecast is a bit worrying...

This is about as far as i will get tonight, apart from cooking the nice meal and having a relaxing evening with DH.

Charlie is all bathed and just needs a bottle before he goes up to bed at 7. All veg is peeled and chopped for dinner. I'm going to be doing a corn beef and potato pie, followed by ice cream, and washed down with a nice bottle of red.

Will be around over the weekend, as the upside of the 'lovely' weather is we are getting through our really really long term list of things that we want to do. Hopefully we are going to have a nice August/September.

poohbear59 sorry to hear about the flooding, what a nightmare, guess you're one of the lucky ones as such. We've had it bad here but luckily because of where my house is very little chance of flooding but I do know others who've been effected. I know it's forecast for rain over the next 3 days, just fingers crossed it isn't as bad as they are forecasting. Well done to your boys for helping out.

    Evening All.

Was AWOL yesterday, just tried to get as much outside work done as possible in the afternoon (glad I did now as it came down in buckets this afternoon, was in Tesco and the roof was leaking it just could not cope with it!). Had a baking session with DD2 yesterday am as it was DD1 preschool party and DD2 was upset she couldnt go. Soon changed her mind when I said we would make chocolate cookies and mini lemon meringue tarts (which were scrummy).

Had to take DD1 to docs this am as goo coming out of her ear. She has an infection but because it is so gooky she couldnt tell if the grommit was still in place so have to go back next week. Also really needed her to have drops but again because so yucky they wouldnt get to where they need to be. DD1 was a super star though and so determined to go to her pre-school graduation! silly me got a real lump in my throat but luckily because DD2 was on my lap I just hid my face in her back! She has so enjoyed her time there and the teachers are fab, do feel a bit sorry for them as DD2 starts there is Sept and are they in for a shock - totally different kettle of fish from DD1.

This afternoon we came home from shopping and made bead necklaces and did sticking and glueing. Both kids and DH been asleep for over an hour.

    I was productive this morning:-
    S & S kitchen, Bathroom and Lounge.
    Hoovered through
Mopped bathroom, kitchen & hall floors
    Cleared out fridge
Did some ironing (got new iron - lovely)
S & S Kids room - will do beds tomorrow
Booked girls into Fairy Workshop in Aug - they get to dress up and have lovely pics taken etc - they will LOVE it!!!

Most important task of today, I have opened a bottle of wine and am off to get my second glass! Should do my face pack too.

Happy weekend all, will think of you while I sit at work bored out of my head!

wE ARE ON FLOOD WARNINGS TOO.. AND IT HAS ONLY BEEN RAINING FOR ABOUT 2.5 HOURS!!!! (damn capslock!! sorry) Hopefully the river & drains will hold and the tidal barrier will keep the main surge out at high tide... not due until about 6-7am though now we are through tonights.

Poohbear.. I hope it all clears really soon for you all.. there are peole living in temporary accomodation, static caravans, etc here from the last lot of flooding the last thing we need is another lot.. It is fantastic how people rally round though when the circumstances dictate. Those affected here have had 'payments'.. the papers made a really big deal about this and most families got... £150!!!! Not even enough to replace a washing machine or cooker... farcical really!! and the government have pledged a measly £2m when we are looking at a minimum of £22m.. and insurance remiums have rocketed in this area (according to my sister who works for an insurance company) there are so many who have no insurance.. bet they do in the future!!!

I've been working out when we have 'days at home' I have got it down to 13 days 'out' and that means I have 9 days on my own at home all day with them all... which isn't bad considering the length of time... I'm sure we can manage a few days out of those where I can get them out. The worst thing is the local paddling pool which they loved last summer is closed due to contaminated water from the last lot of flooding :(

Oh Pigpen, will be thinking of you all and praying it isn't as bad again. It rained here for about 5 minutes tonight but the clouds are thick and a nasty grey just hanging over. Hope it doesn't do it like last time. I got bashed on the head with HUGE drops as I was emptying the car at the tip, had the wipers on full and at times it got so bad I had to pull into laybys as I couldn't see, I hate DP being out at work when it is like that, very worrying when he can do up to 300 miles a night. I keep letting dogs out every half an hour as they refuse to go out when it rains, last night was 4pm when they last went out until this morning, they even get a drop of rain on them & they run back inside.

Well my mother arrived (shock!) so have been not flying for the last 2 hours. She had a moan then went home :rotfl: ok she did talk about other things but the main one was a moan. She's had to move back in with my Dad and all is not good. Could see her tutting as house is a bit upside down, furniture in upstairs loo (from moving things today will put back tomorrow) so she had to use the not so nice with stripped walls downstairs one, tough luck I've been ill and unfortunately it shows. Will hopefully get on track a bit next week.

Anyway, boys are still up (lucky you shell) will get them to bed after posted this, they up late having suppers but hopefully means they won't be up too early tomorrow. DP said he's busy tomorrow, nice for him, then made suggestions (in other words told me what I am doing) for Sunday. Looks like I am taking DS1 fishing while he lays on the sofa then he's suggested going to a car boot (making me wonder why/what he wants as it's me who usually wants to go not him) then he's going for part of a friend's stag do then he's going out to some RC thing. Fun day for me then! Might see if I can get the boys to bed earlier on Sunday and have a pamper night then.

Blimey it has been relatively quiet on here today, I expected pages and pages to catch up on!

Been a long and busy day at work, after chippies at Nanan's (a Friday night regular ;) ) we came home in time to watch Stella do herself in and then vegged to DIY SOS. Kids in bed and VERY excited, 1 /2 sleeps to go.

Too knackered to pack the cases, will have to do that tomorrow, get loads done before swimming lessons and visiting Nannie.

Will look in before bed tomorrow.

Sorry to hear it's bad where you are pooh bear and fingers crossed it stays ok for you pigpen. When I saw the flooding on the news earlier I was hoping no-one on here would be affected.

We survived the last day of school and DD has been to a brownie disco and loved it. I popped into the M&S sale and got a few bits for the children such as jeans for £2.00 and they needed them so very pleased.

DH home from being away all week and his mate decided to visit to watch a dvd. That meant DH had to tidy up and he did all the flying I should have done this week and didn't have time to do. Very handy. Maybe I should invite his mates round every Friday when he comes home so he does all the tidying!!!!

Have a great weekend and lets all do a sun dance so we can see that lovely sun again. We're def painting one on the window tomorrow xx
