Paying the kids to do housework

Someone I knew at uni years ago used to give her kids their child benefit. I though it was a great idea if you can afford to do so. However, I wouldn't just dole it out, I'd expect them to do a fair bit for it. Treating the kids is OK, but they live there too.
Or you could always give them a decent wedge, then charge them for everything :-D0 -

He is very into football, and has asked to do the referee course once he has turned 14 so that he can earn extra money through reffing junior matches.
13 year olds can work for up to 12 hours a week. Some larger employers recruit 13 year olds. I know wh smith does.0 -
I give my 17yr old £35 per week. It keeps a happy atmosphere in the house. For the £35 she tidies the house, helps me get the other kids ready for school, collects the kids from school and waits for an hour in the park with them until I finish work.
All worth it for me for £5 per day, and as I said, it keeps her happy.
The house isn't spotless but a lot better than it was and a lot less stressful for me.I must remember that "Money Saving" is not buying heavily discounted items that I do not need. :hello:0
