Sorry to read OH has been so thoughtless
Hope this weekend is better for you xx
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -
I had my first mobility scooter for my 33rd birthday, 14 years ago, it has done me proud and I have had such fun using it, especially over the last 20 months with Mr Borrow My Doggy :j:j
Sadly though today it is going to the tip... its broken down and loaded into the car.... we are just on a tea break
Tuesday as they say was a rum one. Overcast I still had Mr Borrow My Doggy, and his owner said I could let him off the lead in a certain gated park we both use #excited.
So off I trundle.... passing a lady and a dog, who while our dogs "kissed noses" told me she thought it was "wonderful I could manage a scooter and a dog" I smiled and replied that I use wheels rather than leg power!
Got to the park and it was just full of dogs ay least a couple of dozen. But hey ho, with trepidation I let him go... oh my such a lovely sight seeing him gamble about to the various groups making friends, the first two groupings of owners were friendly, and I was thinking how lovely it was until.....
Well this park is in the posh part of Walton on Thames and I came across the third group of middle age "lardy da" women. Now I did have some treats in my hand ( a bribe to get him back to me, you know ) and there dogs crowded round me, I didn't mind a bit, until the way the owners called them off, implying that there paws could be hurt by the wheels of my scooter :mad::mad:. I was both  and. Well I am no shrinking violet, and I told them how they had made me feel.... (shouldn't be walking a dog with mobility scooter) They walked off to huddle under a tree, and I felt that they were talking about me... its a small park so decided to cut my losses and go home.
Well about 10 minutes later something went wrong with the front wheel of my scooter ( its a three wheel one). and I felt that i was being pulled into the road :eek:. A less than happy call to OH an hour away, two calls to taxi firms later, asking the landscape gardener who was mowing the lawn of the registry office I broke down outside... none prepared to help. Two lovely neighbours came to the rescue, one shaping his car for the others pick up trap, so pick up truck Dad could do the school run and the other could rescue me!!!
Was I pleased to see him, in the meantime one of the "lardy day woman" with a young whippet called "Monty" walked towards me, at first was going to ignore me and cross the road, thought better of it and then said " Is your Dog OK" Mr Borrow My Doggy was perfectly happy sitting patiently next to me.... looked at her sweetly and replied "yes fine I am awaiting my neighbour"!
This left me with a problem - no working scooter = no Mr Borrow My Doggy
I have to say (whispering) daddy to the rescue again... I went to the local independent shop to look, I was really only looking for a second hand one... his customer service was less than satisfactory and although I was nearly tempted with an expensive new one ... I decided I didn't want to buy something from him.
g@mtr33 to the rescue, found an ex demo bailiff model, being sold off by an enterprising bailiff, for a third of the price of the one I looked at....
What is even more heartening it is by the same manufacturer as the one going to the tip today, if my little red scooter was a "Fiesta" the new one is the "Sierra". Same keys, same body work, same charger just a bigger version, I am so chuffed... its going to be brilliant along the thames path!
And for once a happy ending to a !!!! day!As a dear MSE friend says “keep plodding” or

So for the rest of my week .....
Tuesday - I completely flipped out - the scooter situation - the final straw, body in full spasm :eek::mad::eek:
Wednesday .... thankfully a destress day, embroidery course, and i just stitched as well as several HM christmas cards when i got home... only about another 40 to go :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Thursday, a needed but painful sports massage - felt very sore and fatigued afterwards but did manage several hours on the PC sorting volunteering for Christmas Day.
Friday - started at the Salvation Army Centre, discussing our Christmas Day community lunches, they are the other one in the borough, they are using 3 minibuses this year!
A rendezvous at Costalotta with OH
Then on to see the new mobility scooter.... my car was parked close to Wimpy and well OH and I felt we had to relive our childhood, including sharing a brown derby!!!
Home to a few more Christmas Cards....
Then meeting the volunteer chef at the day centre for Christmas Day, kiwi he and his wife are going to be great assets, I was :mad:with the caretaker who was very unhelpful, we are glad he isn't around on Christmas Day.
Finally collapsed on the sofa for Children in Need, the stories are so sobering, have to admit, I hated the pre recorded lot, I think the BBC need to look at other channels to refresh the brand, having honoured Sir Tel... I miss the early days of celebrities dropping in, and things not going to plan etc, all so scripted last night.
Today well.... been very productive and I can hardly move... includes a trip to the tip with old scooter, and general house tidy. Expecting friends in 40 mins - known them 26 years and have not seen them for ages. We've opted for a takeaway, firstly we have both run out of steam, and we both want to sit and catch up rather than one being trapped in kitchen. Lastly no clearing up for wearied limbs.....

I agree - been a !!!! week, yes have posted on other diaries to keep in touch.
Will post tomorrow... i have an hour to try and find the energy to get washed, dressed and tarted up, we are firmly driving to Dad's to pick him and his girlfriend up, to then drive to central London, for tea at a posh hotel, his 10th anniversary treat to us.
Frankly, all my body wants to do is crawl back into bed with Phillipa Gregory....
I can't though disappoint two 81 year olds!
