Evening All:hello:
Hope you are all well.
I am very excited but sad at the same time for this challenge. I have been a little lax lately, but when I have been on challenges i have enjoyed them and they have been thought provoking. So a BIG thank you KAT for all the effort you have put into this.
Right so for budgets.
Food £300
Petrol £90
Holiday £245 (visiting family for a week)
Ebay 20 Items
Exercise 16
I think for August this will be doable but will have to be very strict with myself. We have enveloped everything for the month and we are on a free trial of YNAB so fingers crossed.
Legacy
Hmmm this is a tough one. I turn 30 in 5 days  and I have been dreading this for a long time. However in the past few days I am starting to feel excited about the next decade (it can't be any worse than my 20's) . In thinking about my next decade I am wanting to become Debt Free and have a rainy day fund.
By turning 30 I feel that I am ready to grow up financially and be responsible for my spending and realise that I HAVE to change to make this happen. I also want to be a more positive person and my mental health to continue improving (my medication was reduced yesterday:D)..
On the mental health note I would like to join in with the Daily Mindfulness so my first one is ..... I am Grateful that myself and my family have good health.
Wow that was a long post ... Thank you for reading and GOOD LUCK to everyone on this challenge ONWARDS AND UPWARDS0 -

Hi all
Hopefully getting my first check-in in before midnight. Today wasn't a SFD as I had a planned night out, all budgeted for of course. Plus my friend had some vouchers so that saved me some money on my dinner.
I got paid yesterday so made payments to my debts and savings account. All of my debt is interest free and as the majority is owed to my parents I haven't really viewed it as a huge problem however I now want to get it paid off ASAP. My planned DFD is the end of 2015 but I intend to get my finger out and make it sooner.
SFD 0/12
Exercise 1/16 - some mega walking today
Food £0/£100
Petrol £0/£50
eBay 0/20 this might be a struggle as I've already put a lot on eBay

Just quick update-my 1NSD for this month. I will post my targets for the month once I catch up witm my sleep!!Sainsburys Loan - £6945, Car - £5116, Barclaycard - £13499.99; Sant.Zero card - £500; Tesco card - £716.79; Argos - £116.88
This my and DH debts together. Correct as of 30/03/14.
LBM - 23/08/13. Total debts then - 30K.0 -
Morning - apologies for not posting yesterday with my targets for the month - I was out all day but spent very little!
Targets:-
SFD - 12 (am going on holiday for 9 days so some of this will be tough though)
DFD - 4/8/2020 (I will have retired by then so my aim is o go into retirement able to use my lump sum to help and protect me rather than simply use it to pay off my debts and "Waste it". My ultimate aim would be to then raise £20k to buy a camper van so that I can go off on adventures.)
Pay debt off first - that's my overdraft. I use YNAB and my pay month started in July so I created an online savings account and transferred money to that account so that I can pass it back to the OD. Otherwise it could just end up being the amount left (or not as the case may be).
Food Budget - as I said my budget for 3/4 of august has been set already - tracked through YNAB and used. From 23rd I will pledge to reduce this by 10% each month until it settles into an acceptable level. Currently I have around £40 to last me 21 days which should be okay.
EBay - 20 items
Exercise - walking the dogs
Okay - so today should see a SFD. am planning a stay at home day and sewing a new top for my holiday rather than going out and buying one. I need to finish making a card and then start the house tidy / ebay item collection.44 day challenge
1. Pay £650 off overdraft (£ 288/ £650)
2. Lose 12 lbs (4.5/ 12)
3. Use YNAB everyday (6/44)0 -
I can't believe it's August already - when I started properly paying off my debt in January, September and being debt free seemed like a lifetime away, and now I'm almost here. I'd like to add my thanks to NSK for running these challenges; although I'm not always the best at updating, it really has helped to have this community.
I would like my legacy to be quite simple: break the pattern in my family of being terrible with money and build a solid life for myself. I want to get out of debt and start saving for a new car, a flat deposit and a buffer/ rainy day funds YNAB style. I'd also like to increase my income and am currently studying a professional qualification in order to achieve this.
Challenge for this month:
12 SFD’s (Spend Free Days). 0/12
Set your DFD (Debt Free Day) 15/09/2014. I will then close the account with the overdraft in it.
Pay towards debt first: I have a standing order for £200 that goes out automatically to my overdraft account the day after I get paid.
Food budget: £79 remaining to 15th August - need to do a big shop and freeze some meals, as I have now worked my way through the cupboards and the freezer. Then £120 from 15th August - 15th September
I have one social event planned (Robin Hobb signing! Woop!) which I'm going to use Waterstones cards and some spending money to pay for. I also need to buy 2 birthday cards and a present and put into a collection at work. Finally, I have a fee to pay to my university of £75.
Do a good deed and ask that person to PIO = "Pass-It-On". Do not expect or act in attempt to get something back. Let’s pass on good deeds and see if they come back to us. You choose what this deed it but let’s not make it something we would have done anyway - lets step outside our comfort zone and see who we meet! I like this idea very much. I will keep an eye out
Exercise Week 1: 0/4
I'm really excited by this challenge - off to do my big shop and purchase enough food to get my through to the 15th so I can start checking off NSDs!Proud to be debt free September 2014. :j

Hi all
Didn't manage a SFD yesterday but should be able to nab one today. I'm also going to go for a run today and hopefully that should kick of the exercising for August.
SFD - 2/12
Groceries - £16.61/£116
Odd - £14.47/£60
Petrol - x/£125
Ebay - x/20
Exercise - x/160 -
Morning all.
I didn't manage a SFD yesterday but did only spend £1.99 on pick and mix and £2.80 on chicken breasts, porridge oats and 2 sauce mixes, I used nectar points for the balance.
This month I have DH's birthday, I have already bought his present within budget and just need to get his cards although I would like to get him some good running socks and will be looking for some when I get to a specialist shop. I had budgeted £8 this month to replace the kids school water bottles, I buy the metal ones to keep their drink cool as school like to have the heating on at 90 degrees then add 250 kids on top. I bought the bottles on holiday from our holiday spends so the £8 in the budget will remain in the buffer fund in case it is needed.
I have sold most of the things I have to sell already, I do have other things but they are seasonal and I am holding off until autumn to list them, I will have a think though and see if there is anything else. I have sold quite a few of my size 18 clothes (am now just an inch or so away from a 12) but some of them are so new or hardly worn or I really love them that I'm not sure what to do with them, I was pondering about trying to take in one particular top but whilst I can sew I have never done any dressmaking.
I have replaced a few of my clothes from ebay and one dress and a denim jacket from the CS but in all honesty I can't afford CS prices, yesterday I looked at a lovely shirt with butterflies on, it was a Matalan one and it was £4.50, for me it is just too much for a used, low end brand.
I did my 10 mile cycle route yesterday but I did knock off 3 miles so it was about 7 in the end due to torrential rain, it was the route with the 25% hill and that part was completed before the rain came. The hill is getting so much easier now and it is only the fourth time I have done it, I love how I feel when I get to the top - unable to speak and with jelly legs.
I am enjoying reading about peoples legacies. Mine will be to be debt free when I die (and long before obviously), to be able to help my children out when they are starting out on their own, to be able to leave them something when I am gone (house etc) to teach them about money and to maintain a fit and healthy lifestyle for myself and my children.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

:T:T:T I have actually, finally sold something!!! :T:T:T
I don't have an 3bay acvount, but do have fb, gumt and n3tmums. So I re advertised dd's old bed (having given someone 3 tries at turning up for it!) and it has now been sold and collected. 1 down ... And the money has gone into a Cmas/bday pot.
Last month I 'got' a great PIO - helping a French lady on the train up north, who had left her handbag (with money, ID, passport, phone etc) on a previous train, and who spoke no English at all. All she had was her - and her son's - tickets. I ended up taking her off the train at York, and the info/customer service people were able to tell us that her bag had been found and a guard was bringing it to Kings X that afternoon. Much relief all round! But 5 days too early to 'qualify!
Dolly , I know what you mean about some cs prices on lower-end items. I've got super picky recently - since joining kat! And probably stopped myself spending loads unnecessarily.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0
