    Hi all

    I spent some money today but not really counting it as it was my visa which is coming out of the holiday budget:). I also stopped at the shop and sent of my box of books via collect +.

    OH & I had planned on heading out to enjoy the fresh morning & afternoon but now we are in the middle of a torrential downpour with thunder and lightning:(.

    Hi L_D,

    I have a friend who is passionate about the Blood Donation Service following her own life experiences, and she set herself the challenge of recruiting as many new donors as she could via a FB page. Perhaps your PIO could be getting some new donors for them? Not quite PIO in the literal sense, but an idea if you can't think of anything else...........

    That's a brilliant idea Caeraugirl, I think that's what I will do. I'm not sure if I'll use FB but will come up with a way to work it. Thanks for sharing

  • Checking in to report a NSD - yesterday I did my big food shop and then spent the day cooking, so I now have chilli, sausage casserole and thai curry in the freezer waiting to be eaten, plus some frozen sausages/ salmon fillets to make other meals with. That should hopefully see me through to payday on the 15th, as well as free up time in the evening for dissertation work.

    Totals:

    SFD 1/12
    Exercise 0/16 (my goal is to use my lunch break to walk for 30 mins, so hopefully this will start going up tomorrow!)
    Food £43.59/ £80 (till 15th August) but following big shop will now hopefully only need veggies, milk etc before payday.
    Petrol £0/£20 (till 15th August)
    Proud to be debt free September 2014. :j

    Afternoon everyone

    Another SFD here - and a PIO moment. A friend came round and I've shown her how to make some fabric coasters and some lavender bottles https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8xWZZCu5zT0 She is going to make them for christmas presents - I was taught how to do them by someone in a craft shop so feel that I am passing the gift of knowledge on ( and perhaps helping someone else to have a frugal Christmas!) At Christmas I try to buy a few of those small (£1) boxes of chocolates and then randomly give them to checkout operators etc - they look so hassled by the workload and I get more pleasure from the sheer joy on their faces from such a small thing.

    I have sold three items on ebay - raising the princely sum of £3.67! Hey - it all helps right? I have also completed some consultation work which should pay out £150 - will count that when it pays out.

    The dogs have been walked again - must have been a good one - they are lying sparked out atm!

    Wow, I can't believe its the 3rd of August already! I have been super busy so have not posted yet, and DH and I have not had 'the talk' about how we progress with debt repayments now, but I will crack on with what I can until we do this....

    It's been three spendy days so far, with a meal out with work on Friday (first in 6 months), then running shoes yesterday and some storage boxes and a skirt for work today. DH and I are using the unexpected bonus he got on leaving his last job last month to buy these bits and bobs that we've been holding off on. I need a few work clothes and underwear. He needed and has now got work stuff for his new job.

    I did a run for all 10k today and was very pleasantly surprised with my time, so hopefully that will push me on with training for the dualthon next month... next month!!.. eeek.

    I will put together my aims and all when I get time this week, but dfd remains as below, exercise will be 25 sessions this month, and I will have a good think about the PIO.

    My legacy (after recently sorting out all my dad's finances when he died) is to be like my dad was - have money saved and nothing owed so that when I shuffle off this mortal coil, there is nothing to pay off and loved ones are left with something.

    ok, off to sort out this month's estimates..

    Happy Sunday lovely people :)

    So, here's my Saturday/Sunday update. Yesterday was a bit frantic with loads of work. No time for exercise (unless you call walking for 5 hours around London exercise? Nah, that would be cheating!!) and a quick top-up shop meant that I had a blah day when it came to MSEing! The food shop was difficult as I'm still waiting to hear from my work if they need me to cover a shift or two away from home so I didn't want to buy too much in case I'm away for some of the week. I now have enough food to last a few days so another supermarket trip will be required midweek if I'm still at home.

    I spent today clearing out, and managed to list a few items on ebay. I forgot how long the listings take, especially when you have to iron the clothes and photograph them, but I made a start! Off to my Sunday hot sweaty yoga class shortly and I have a bit of a leftovers curry for when I get back later.

    So, counting tonight's yoga class, the figures so far look like this....
    SFD = 2 (Target 12)
    Food budget = £19.29 (Target £150)
    Yoga classes = 2 (Target 25)
    Ebay = 4 (Target 20)

    Just a quick check in while dinner being cooked by DH - he usually does Sunday dinner and does a far nicer roast than I do, tbh!

    Have now completed 3/18 exercise stints, lovely long bike ride with friends this morning but unfortunately didn't manage SFD as it was my turn to get the coffee and toast at our pitstop. Hadn't specifically budgeted for that either so will have to come out of my £70 "leisure" budget for the hols - so now up to £17.55/£170 planned spends.

    Today I am grateful for the lovely weather, countryside and friends around me that makes cycling so enjoyable, for my DH's culinary skills and for the fact that my broken toe is now healed and I've been able to start running again - the enforced break has made me appreciate it all the more. Still working on that legacy...........

    Happy Sunday all!!

    Thank you for all of the job search/application support! It genuinely really is appreciated! I have moments where I feel quite down, but then I pull myself together, do something productive and give myself a kick up the bum!

    Yay for those in the List appreciation society! ;) Although I am one to get a little obsessed with mine, they end up being never ending as I start adding and adding as I go! Or I end up with lists for everything! I try to keep them short, but there's nothing more satisfying (ok may be there is) than crossing off an item on a list! I even tick them just to confirm that the item has definitely been completed...oh dear! I agree Fmess- that they are great for those with sketchy memories! I am juggling quite a lot at the moment so it definitely ensures that I get more done!

    Abundant- I love how you have broken down your budget into weeks and spread the cost over said weeks from your bulk purchases!

    mothernerd- That is impressive economy on your biro salvage!!

    Congratulations to all of those who have sold items or who have got some items listed! I think the listing is the most tedious part Siouxsie- I always forget the extra effort required with clothing!

    L_D- Blood donation is a great idea for a PIO. Try and take someone else along, a friend or family member. Like Caeraugirl said about recruiting others. I have twice tried to donate blood this year- once in February and again last month, both times I did not pass the haemoglobin tests, despite adjusting my diet. It is very frustrating as I so badly want to be able to help, but apparently I am quite anemic, so I am having a break until next year to see if I have anymore success when I try again. Both occasions I have taken a crowd of friend's who have never donated before, all of which have been successful and have now signed up for regular blood donation. So my attempt at helping, despite not being successful for myself, has generated more blood donors!

    Last month I was in a supermarket. The person in front of me was 1p short on their shop, they were going to put an item back so I handed the cashier the 1 pence. The cashier was quite surprised and the customer was really chuffed. For such a tiny act of kindness I managed to put a smile on a complete strangers face and hoped that they went on to do something nice, however big or small.

    Tiptoes- Great legacy statement! :heartsmil

    Right off to spend the evening relaxing with OH and the lil doggy we're looking after at the moment. :)

    Nearly forgot figures!

    SFDS= 2/12
    Food= £6.00/£100

    No others to report on!

    NSD #2 (no Food Spend #3).

    Dug a plant (with permission) out of next doors garden - a heather about 3 feet across in either direction, so moved round it pulling all the branches in, then digging a spade length deep. Put down tarpaulin (plastic ones) so I didn't make a mess. Filled some small window box planters with their spare soil. Started on the other plant she said I could have but it was too close to the conifer type tree (brings me out in lumps) - couldn't work out if I was hitting roots and there is also another big stone (cobble) buried full depth in the soil. I know she plans to cut the conifer back (1/2 size) so will see if she minds me cutting some branches with my tree saw - there was just no room to get at that side of the plant and I need to dig the cobble out first.

    So about an hour and a half digging and plant wrestling - didn't sweat because I was taking it slow and steady (nearly fell over a couple of times anyway). Enough effort to make me fall asleep for part of the afternoon so counting it (we all have to start from where we are).

    Couple more things on the de-clutter list. Also spent time drawing up a new 'jobs' list (transferring odd bits left undone from old lists - then discarding the old list) but stopped when I had filled three pages. Need to pick a few small items to do this week - taking off the old bathroom fitments (toothbrush mug holder that never had a mug?) and using the tester pot I bought last week to touch up paintwork in the hallway where DS3 scraped it just after I used the last bit tin the bottom of the can to touch up before.

    Today I am grateful for lovely neighbours (we won't talk about the other side), the joy of lists (feeling organised amongst the chaos) and lovely water for the plants (have small onions, maybe potatoes and enough dwarf beans to make minestone soup).
    My mission in life is not only to survive,but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.
