Hi all,
I'm gutted that after lurking last month and deciding that August is the time to get started on this challenge, it's going to be the last one! Still, I'm hoping doing even one month will kick start some new habits. And what an inspiration you are Kat, really hope you enjoy your adventures.
So please can I join you all for the August challenge?#21 Save £12k in 2025 £16977.35/£20000

I am not aiming to fail - I am just aware of my limitations (so I can develop a strategy).
My debt free date is whenever I sell the house + 3 months for the sale to go through - everything else is just keeping going. My plans are fairly modest (lots of wild sex would be nice).
Food Budget £35/100 (shop 2 days ago). Aiming to start with a fiscal fast on food spending - use what we already have.
Transport £30. This is the cost of an anybus daysaver once a week (5 Fridays) or lots of little walk to town and £1 hop back or taxis to appointments. Hoping not to need most of it but it needs to be there.
DIY/ House renovation budget. Have to buy a sander (before Monday). Wood dye is £4.25 a tin, Varnish £7.75 (both cover 9 sq yds - think I need 3 of each, may need 2 coats of varnish). DS1 came last week, fixed the guttering above the french windows, completed felting the shed, broke up some thick concrete, moved some slabs and started laying the (free) laminate in the front room. After 4 rows we counted up - probably 6 pieces less than we need (so will use that in the bedroom I am using).
DS1 came back today to sand front room using my old sander. He repaired one of the catches but then it broke off. Hiring an edge sander for the day will cost £37.50 + cost of sandpaper sheets, so worth buying a replacement for the old one (it was older than him - he's 29). DS1 coming back Monday, he has access to 2 large diy stores but I need to do the research. So indefinite budget but some money will have to be spent - laminate was given to me and I have free labour.
Selling - may have to buy something to take photos/ work out how to move photos from device to computer/ decide whether to continue to boycott e:eek:bay. DS3's gf gave him her old phone - it has taken me 3 months to locate the charger - still don't know if phone takes photos and if he has charged it up.
Just deleted all but 3 of my remaining items from amazon - textbooks down to a penny each. One was lowest price £4 something and last time I did anything that size it cost £8 to post - will go to cs instead. Decided to do the de-clutter 2014 things in the remainder of 2014. Thought it would be difficult but am up to 62 in 3 days - helps when you are clearing space for floor laying). Intend to include de-cluttering mum's and the little house if I get stuck.
Exercise - much needed. July's tribulations mean I am back to 14st 11lb (Feb weight?). Back to keeping a food diary. Scan is on Tuesday then will see what they say (probably see own doctor in 10 days time). Meanwhile (because nobody said I shouldn't) have been doing what I can to the house (lots of sitting down weeding and moving things by pushing them along the floor). Carried all the laminate upstairs to new location (3 pieces at a time) 1/2 a step at a time. Also hobbled round for about 4 hours yesterday.
Should try to get some sleep now. Was going to link to a song (not that one) but u tube isn't co-operating.My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -
Hello August!:T
Another fresh start for us all, courtesy of kat (and the calendar!). However July went for us, whether we are newbies or veterans, we each have this unique opportunity to make a difference NOW.
I feel truly blessed to have been spurred on and pushed/encouraged to achieve more than I ever could on my own.
