Then later it got even worse, we bought a TV.

Love it Dolly84, if you're going to spend you gotta do it in style lol! Seriously though, you bought something new in the most MSE way you could with the use of vouchers, etc so don't beat yourself up too much. And yesterday was a spend free day for you :)!

I managed another SFD yesterday, and did think rubbish weather would have prevented me from spending today too, but we were almost out of bread this morning so DS1 and I popped to L!dl on our bikes to get some, and a few other essentials while we were there as spending anyway, all for grand total of £8.64 (would have spent at least double that in Mr T's). And another exercise session chalked up to boot! We returned soaked but both really enjoyed the ride.

So here are the totals I'm rubbish at posting:

    Exercise 10/18
    SFD 8/12
    Food 208.94/100 :eek::eek:
    Petrol 90.66/80:eek:
    Planned spends 239.55/170
Declutter 23/20 (inc. 4 auction sales)

So apart from my decluttering, and a possible but unlikely meeting of SFD target by the end of the month, I have failed dismally this month, and there's still a week to go! I think I was a bit too ambitious in my budgets with summer holidays and maternal visit (with pick up and drop off by me) to consider. Can only try to minimise any extra budget damage for the rest of the month now.

Still, September is a new month, looking forward to new challenge Mothernerd. Hope you're all enjoying the (soggy) Bank Holiday!

    Hello everyone,

Hope you're all having nice bank holiday weekends - weather is a bit rubbish here, OH as going to watch cricket but it is rained off. Got quite a lot done yesterday - shelves up in an alcove - so feeling pleased! And seeing my mum this afternoon which should be nice.

Have updated my totals below - a bit over in grocery spends, need to do better there and petrol is over because of 500 mile round trip to funeral but generally not too bad. Onwards and upwards!

Dolly - sounds like the spends were necessary and you got the best deal you could, so following Martin's MSE rules.

Mothernerd - you are v kind to have made the birdcage cover, it sounds like it was quite a job - hope they liked it.

Lilt - hugs, hope you and your mum are doing OK. The email account for jelly is a lovely idea. I think you are right, personal things combined with end of the month makes for quiet chat!

Careaugirl - I always struggle with knowing how much to budget, it is hard - but even when I go over I think keeping track helps, and prevents it being as bad as it might have been.

    SFD – 7/12
    Groceries 190/£
    190 (36.21/£20 buffer)

    House 24.46/£25
    Birthdays 101.00/£130
    Car (MOT/insurance/breakdown) 510/£550
    Social 30.50/£40

    Afternoon all

Having a SFD today as I haven't even got dressed yet, and probably won't. The weather is rubbish, it has been raining since 7am so it is unlikely that I'll get to walking the dogs. So I reckon there will be no exercise either! I am however being very productive and preparing for the return to work next week :(

Tomorrow will be a very spendy day as I am having my hair cut and coloured for the first time in six months. It is a bit of a treat but I am going to a wedding and I really want to look good for the photos, and I have a million split ends and the colour starts about 5 inches from the roots at the moment.

Hope you are all having a good day

Ooh, Fmess - having a haircut or colouring it is a sure way to feel good! I coloured mine a few days ago (hadn't got to 5 inches of real coloured hair, but wasn't too far off!)and feel so much better. Enjoy the wedding!

    Hello all!

Back from our weekend away at the wedding – Fmess I had my hair done on Thursday in readiness for it and was so relieved to have nice ends and no massive roots! It was worth the spend… I felt quite glamorous despite my not new dress and shoes that I could barely walk in! New hair always helps!
All in all, we didn’t do too bad - £30 for the whole weekend, which included food on the way down and back up, and drinks on the night before and on the day itself. It was what I had budgeted exactly, so we are pleased with that. It was a nice weekend too, although we are both pooped.
We got back late Saturday night, and yesterday was a heavy training day for me for the duathlon – 35k bike ride followed straight away by a 5k run. And I managed it ok! And I don’t feel too terrible today. Off to do some yoga in a bit to help my muscles recover, but managed to get round Lidl fine today, and even managed a 3 mile walk with DH last night.
Lovely to catch up with everyone’s posts – hope everything is reasonably calm in everyone’s world this bank holiday. I caught up on Dr Who this morning, and I love the new Dr, although I keep expecting him to be more sweary having known him from The Thick of It!

Thank you, I've been putting it off for ages as it costs so much, but is definitely going to be worth it to feel more glamorous.

How did you manage to only spend £30?

    Hey all...

Interesting story about Doctor Who opening credits - I will have new appeciation for them now!

Yesterday was a write off - spend day and no gym - however have manged both a SFD and gym workout today so I'm feeling virtuous again!

Quiet night in. One more day to go until pay day!!! Hoorah!!!

NSD, today. I have added £20 for the takeaway which has so far done me 3 meals. Not a great day. Some cooking done but one dish got stuck and I have left the burnt on black stuff for another day - even going to the bin with some recyclables was difficult. Less planning tomorrow, just try to do one thing, then the next, see how we get on.

Weather has been horrible - cold, wet and miserable and I think that is dragging me down (people on other threads have had similar days so decided it's the weather, not us). Will have to get out the portable rainbows.

Today I am grateful for my old house, my lovely big stock-pot (it will come clean with a bit of effort) and the internet (not an instant solution but much quicker than having to physically go round places).
My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.
