I am 100% sure that every single person on here does not think you should lose a SFD for buying your gran tablets for her poorly tum in her time of need! Hope it wasn't the 'holiday' food!

    Give yourself a SFD. :j

    Ah thank you 😃

She suspected the blackberry crumble and custard had caused it, but I've never heard of crumble or custard causing an upset stomach. Fingers crossed the tablets have worked.

A quiet day. Testing my 'limits' - as per one of the arthritis books. Trying to get this favour done - hemming the gigantic circle which will be a birdcage cover. I have been timing myself and at coming up to 5 hours sewing (in 2 hour chunks) I am getting little cramps in my right hand. But, I only have 2 feet left to go so I will get it finished.

I have also found a number of garden bits - pea netting, plant ties etc to pass on tomorrow, so another 10 items on my de-clutter total. I have a rusty tree saw (left by the previous owner) which can be given away (I have a good one) if the recipient's partner is safe to be in a house with a tree saw - he's not violent just dopey. I saw a quote on the internet about your husband always being your biggest child and the one needing most adult supervision and thought of her, but was worried that it would make her cry.

DS2 came to have a bath - he's very pessimistic about the boiler.

Today I am grateful for being single, for my laptop (pushed it off the end of the bed the other day, by accident) and utube (kept me entertained while sewing).

    Many turtle hugs for everyone.

Just lost my post. Sewing the birdcage cover (my favour) and timing it to establish 'my limits', as per arthritis hand book. Coming up to 5 hours have slight cramps in my hand (back was killing after 2 hours and then my leg wasn't comfortable in any possible position) but, as I have less than 2 feet left to go, I will plod on.

Also have some garden bits to pass on, so 10 added to my de-clutter target and possibly a tree saw. Need to check whether recipient thinks her fiancee is safe with a tree saw in the house - he's not violent, just dopey.

DS2 came for a bath - he's very pessimistic about the boiler.

    Many turtle hugs for everyone.

    Food £74.06/ £150 (till 15th September)
    Petrol £0/60

Spendy day yesterday as I did a big shop as the freezer was nearly empty. Made and froze 3 portions each of prawn curry, chili and sausage casserole, plus some portions of things like salmon that I can just defrost and add vegetables too, so I should now be sorted meal wise almost until I get paid again. Dissertation still not done, hacking away again today so hopefully a SFD.

    Morning all

It is my payday today :) Thank goodness for the Bank Holiday bringing it forward.

I have paid towards my debt, so the credit card is now clear again and I am down to 33.7% debt. Unfortunately, its not the 40% I was aspiring too for the year anniversary of starting to tackle my debt, but I am still determined to reach 50% debt free by Christmas.

Today is a spend day as I am going to out with my family and will do the food shopping and get petrol too. One of the dogs seems to be poorly but he has had a small breakfast this morning, so I am hoping that with a few days rest and extra TLC, we can avoid a visit to the vets. Its so hard to know when/if to take them when they are just not acting themselves as they cannot tell you how they feel.

  • Fmess, don't look at it as not reaching 40% look at it as REACHING A THIRD!!!! :j :j and well done you!!!

As for gran, it depends what her tummy is used to. I know for sure that if my dairy protein intolerant tummy took one look at custard I would definitely be in the same boat as her. Maybe the blackberries waited a day too long before they were stewed, or one carried some mould spores.. it could be anything really, including just nerves at being in the care home while she convalesces. Hugs to her whatever it is!

Mothernerd, my laptop is also my baby. My other baby has thus far removed one of the hinges and left big pixelated streaks down the screen, not to mention the stuff jammed under the keys. When I get my new baby Macbook she shall not be able to touch it!! :D lol.

Off to see friend in about 20 minutes. Not able to take jellytot as sods law she woke up with a streaming nose and cough. 2 nurseries in one week defo to blame for this. I feel fine, having not got it *yet*... lol. So jellytot is staying with daddy who is here anyway as it is one of his 'days' even though I am on holiday.

Tonights dinner is stuffed marrow. Will let you know how I get on. I've got £2.64 to last me after my train fare... LOL. My self imposed savings may not survive... Defo not a SFD anyway. Barring a miracle and someone paying for my train fare anyhoo... :D

Hi guys. I have today returned from a lovely seaside holiday and am feeling tired but relaxed.

    Lilt - hugs to you.
    Loveadove - well done you.
Fmess - hope your gran is OK.

Hugs to everyone else who needs one.

Our holiday came in well under budget, we spent a lot of time on the beach so didn't spend much. We went to a lovely town and called into a CS, one of those one off ones for a local charity and there I got DD 5 items of clothing for £6.25, she got a brand new swimming costume, a pair of skinny jeans, a Designers at Debenhams dress, a boden skirt and a pair of Next lined trousers, I still can't believe it, everything around here is about £5 an item.

I arranged for Sainsburys to deliver my shopping for when we got home and I have come in 99p under budget but that is because I sent back a substitute which was £1.

A bit behind the times in applemuncherland - a week away without internet is relaxing but provides a huuuge amountof reading to catch up!

Lilt - sending you and all of your family hugs. Hope the babysnuggles were good. Your savings are super impressive - well done you!

Loveadove - well done on getting a job! I hope you take it - my dh got offered a job in Dec, then 2 days later another company showed interest in interviewing him. I sweetly reminded him that being interested vs a job offer = no competition really!

abundant - when you find the secret source of self-control, please share its location with us!

mothernerd - hope the stroppy little so and so actually does get the job.

Fmess - £85!!! Well done! Hope your gran mends quickly. Buying medication for her does NOT spoil an NSD!

MagicCat - grr and yah boo hiss to pesky electricians. Hope it gets sorted soon.

Stewby - well done on not spending! Having spent a week in the West Country, I have campervan lust!

Soa - you are soooo near your DFD. How exciting for you! Hope the dissertation motivation finds you.

So, back after a week's self-catering where I emptied the fridge and part of the freezer to take with us. Dh suggested a take away, so I reminded him of how I'm usually ill/off colour after one, probably due to it not being gluten-free. So he suggested trying a different take away place! Yeah, right. No chance. I dug in the freezer and found a hm pot of food, which I've fed to him with rice. Me? I've had yummy salmon in pesto and tom/lettuce in mayo that survived the 6 1/2 hour drive home!

And I'm sure we have ice cream in there somewhere...!

Tomorrow will be a big shop day, so I hope to go alone as taking dh or dd usually results in more things hopping into the trolley!

NSD. Quiet day at mum's (kiddiwinks still on holiday and dogs were very good). Picked up and dropped off, free food all day, 3 of us dug up all the potatoes that lay dormant last year.

Tree saw and three more extra bits offloaded and added to de-clutter total (and an old bag to carry everything in - must add that). Watched 2 films (one dire - it had aeroplanes in so thought it would keep the baby [mum's partner] quiet but managed to encompass every disaster movie cliche whilst bypassing all laws of geology, physics and mathematics). Truly terrible but as mum's partner is nearly completely deaf the rest of us ripped it apart to our heart's content.

Stroppy one is being ignored atm - was telling me about all the clothes he is planning to buy if he gets the new job and I gently reminded him of his rent arrears and he said he didn't need to pay me any if he didn't have hot water - so leaving him alone for the time being. Distinctly remember trotting up and down stairs filling a bath with kettles when they were all small - had an old temperamental boiler which needed me to pull the cooker out and crouch on the floor in a peculiar position to restart it.

I know he has a kettle - he asked could he take mine 'for the time being' when he moved - 2 and a 1/2 years ago. Would have made more of an effort to resolve the situation if he had been more polite - builder is due to visit and was going to re-direct him to the boiler problem and house sit (checked with mum today).

Today I am grateful for free food (brought potatoes home), co-operation and enough education to know something is nonsense but a sense of humour to 'enjoy' it anyway.

    Thanks lilt, I can't believe I hadn't realised that! I am a third debt free!!!! :j

Oh dear mothernerd, are you sure he is too big for a smacked bottom? Or the naughty step?

Thanks for all the thoughts for my gran. Her tummy seems to have settled overnight :) She is getting stronger each day, and is a very feisty character so I'm sure she'll be back to ordering us all around soon enough.

Today was a spend day as predicted, but out of September's budget so no change to my totals. Didn't do any formal exercise so no change there. Not sure if I did my good deed as I gave someone else my car park ticket so I saved them paying for parking :)

I am quite proud of myself as I looked through my list of September expenses, budgeted them all and then cancelled/changed some of them so that I can stick to paying in cash and not use the credit card :) Fingers crossed for no unforeseen expenses cropping up! I must get round to starting that emergency fund!
