    hey NSK.

    this is my bongo baby:

    http://s1284.photobucket.com/user/stewby8/library/bongo%20pics

It cost my parents over £10k in total (they bought it unconverted then paid for the conversion to be professionally done) but when they ended up with ellie (the dog in the album), they couldn't use it anymore as ellie doesn't like it.
As a result my dad was going to sell it but I managed to convince him to keep it. He has been paying everything for the past two years but 2015 is the year we take it on.
My parents spoil me rotten (sorry) and they are letting us have it for nothing as long as they get to use it a few times a year to meet up with friends (and when I am free to dogsit).
    Well worth it.

So, not OTT luxury like some campervans/motorhomes I have seen but I love our bongo to bits. It is so brilliant and I would love to travel more in it. Hopefully once the debt is gone, we can explore more of our wonderful little island.
    :D

Oh jeez... sorry, I have babbled on about the bongo heaps. Sorry kat but you did ask.
Travelling is one of my passions although I am not as brave as you going so far afield on your own.

Quick check in as I've contracted a lurgy.

Spend day as bought OH a treat tea as it's his birthday.

Did a gym class, before feeling ill, so another session counted.

Sent off three sales from eB4y and made £7.11 after fees.

Kat I don't like milk but I have no problem with stirring porridge oats (they are good for me) into fruit yoghurt and eating crunchy yoghurt and I eat it at any time of day. I have just made a batch of mexican rice - long grain wholemeal basmati rice (that's the best/ only one for diabetes according to which book you read) cooked with turmeric and chilli powder, onion, couple of handfuls of frozen veg (added an extra handful of sweetcorn as I was making a double batch and only had one tin of kidney beans left), kidney beans then when it's cold I added two handfuls of sultanas and low-fat vinaigrette. It's great with meals but I like it on it's own for breakfast - one dietician I was seeing said it sounded disgusting.

    No pleasing some folk.

    Evening All

SFD for me today think that makes 7 but will check my spreadsheets tomorrow.

Love the camper Stewby and the dog too. He's lovely :D We have a Romahome that we basically purchased so that we could take all of the dogs out for trips. They love it. We haven't managed to stay anywhere overnight in it yet but hopefully that will happen soon.

Mothernerd I love your positivity. Whilst Arthritis is a pain, in every sense of the word, it is by no means the end. I am a great believer in positive thinking (OH swears that if I lost a limb I would just say 'oh well at least I have the other arm/leg and carry on). When I was diagnosed with MS I decided I was not going to let it beat me and so far so good. I have bad days but I make sure I have more good days than bad. I'm sure you will conquer this using the strength and determination you have shown over the past months.

Off to bed now so night night all

Sorry, have been MIA for last couple of days - and seem to have missed so much!!

Lilt I wish your brother a speedy recovery, and hope you're doing okay.

Mothernerd I am impressed both by your amazing positivity and your literary skills, love the turtle story. Will also be happy to take a turn if needed but would prefer a couple of months to see properly how it works first, am new to the thread so only have the last couple of months to go by....

After spendy weekend with petrol & groceries, managed to bag another SFD yesterday - think that's 5 but need to check spreadsheet on my desktop later. My mum gave me £40 towards petrol though as I'd gone purely to collect her so only cost me £25 and still have enough in the tank to last this week, even with planned trips with kids.

No more exercise yet but hope to do a quick bike ride before hairdressers today - don't fancy helmet hair after ;-) ! And 3 of 4 items have sold at auction, posted off yesterday and made £18.03 after fees and postage - am pleased as they started off in CS pile before I joined the thread.

Really getting into YNAB now, have about 25 days of free trial left but will be getting full version after. Planning to replace old desktop by the end of the year though, anyone know how easy it is to transfer to a new one?

Will do proper update of balances later. Have a good day everybody.

  • Morning Chickies....

What a splendid morning. Having woke up very late yesterday and ending up at work 2 hours late ( no one noticed so I still left on time ) I set two alarms this morning, "might" have taken a bit of a caffeine pill and had a green smoothie.... and hey presto I am raring to go...

Also just gave my colleague one to try - she is going to be bouncing off the walls soon.. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

So.. first things first... MotherNerd - congratualtions and well done on being the first [STRIKE]mug [/STRIKE] volunteer to take on the challenges! I have no doubt you will do great and I will be jumping in now and then to report what I am up to ( can't just leave cold turkey like that ) and look forward to seeing what you have up your sleeve. However that recipe you just mentioned sounds lovely and I am going to steal it! Thanks....:T.. I have a tin of kidney beans, rice, fresh tumeric, frozen soya beans, and I will make up the rest. Although I am partial now to green rice...(spinach, corriander, garlic and salt blended with 1/2 cup water, poured over 2 cups cooked rice and baked for 20 minutes...)...

Siouxie I like your confessions! :p I have just renewed library books for the 9th time as I don't have time to return them. Have I opened them - nope! And one is about Thailand! Eek! I have cacao nibs in the cupboard - HELP! Other than a smoothie I am not sure what else I can put them in. And well done on fleabay!!!

Stewby - loving the Bongo although don't know why it's called a Bongo..? My Dad has a VW Transporter in vibrant green. He did all the conversion work himself so if I ever get a shell I know there is a willing and able volunteer to help make it look AMAZING! It's a good investment I think - they will last years and you will have so much fun with one.

    Everybody stay away from Fmess....

TiptoesDB I saw a a guy picking them at my local train station. Made me intensely jealous:o. I will be heading out on Sunday on the bike with tupperware tubs to collect as many as I can along that 26 mile cycle route. Now THAT will jazz up my porridge!

KarmaChi what you said about "self sabotage" resonates with me. Especially my gym efforts. Too much sugar and too much c-rap food recently - especially after realizing I had only lost a kilo after 5 weeks of tough love. I know I have packed the muscle on though but still being above 80KG was a hard pill to swallow. Back on it today with a vengeance though. .......... money wise that happens a bit too. I think having treats lined up to look forward to is imperative to stave off the "binge" when we see something nice...

Right... I am off to do some *cough cough* work... :rotfl:

    Back later!!!

Today shall be a naughty spendy day as I have finally got myself a haircut appointment! Twill be anything between £25 and £45 but I'm hoping for the lower one, of course. And then I can look less haggard, and then I can colour my hair again - why waste dye on hair that is only going to be cut off! I probably won't regale the hairdresser with my tales of bicarb and ACV... But dd will be there, to entertain us and also hurry things along.

And the money to pay for this is coming from 2 months ago, when I put £1 in a pot for achieving various things (10k steps, 10 veg, no sugar, workout, NSD)and ended up with over £60 for the month! Said pot is now being replenished for the same things this month.

Fmess - hope you feel better soon.

Stewby - love the campervan, we have a caravan which we love going away in but I almost need to be sedated when DH is towing it, nothing to do with his driving the whole thing just terrifies me.

    Good morning everyone.

Applemuncher - well done on charity shop bargains, that's great value! Hope haricut is nice.

Tiptoes - - and well done to you for resisting food spends when having a hard day - not easy!

L_D sorry to hear the weight loss isn't going so well - I always tell myself it's fluid!

Fmess - hope you feel better soon!

I haven't heard of this spider thing, sounds amazing! I have a plug in thing which is supposed to emit noise at a frequency that spiders don't like, and I have to say (though possibly it is a bit of a placebo) I think it works.

Busy work day ahead for me, but hopefully a much needed SFD. OH is out this evening, so I will try to get a few little bits of painting done.

    Have a good day all.
